Danny Rowe powered to his fourth No. 1 qualifying position of the season in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts at zMAX Dragway.

His 5.871 seconds at 246.80 mph pass in his Agave Underground Tequila Chevy Camaro placed him into a first round match-up with the 16th qualifier Eric Latino. Rowe was able to outrun Latino with a winning run of 5.967 at 243.63 to the losing run of 5.995 at 242.80. Rowe will face David Hance on Sunday as he vies for his first win of the season.

Points leader Rickie Smith qualified second in the field but was defeated first round by Adam Flamholc. When eliminations resume on Sunday it will be Flamholc vs. Peter Farber; Mike Castellana vs. Von Smith; and Jim Laurita vs. Mike Janis.

Eliminations for the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will continue Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
