Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Paul Pittman Runs 16.030/43.04, Now #17; Best prior run: 9.952/90.27, Was #17

Pittman with a lot of shake and was real loose before he clicked it off. He will not get in the show.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.644/208.91, Now #16; Best prior run: 8.471/167.53, Was #16
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.686/209.52, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.601/210.08, Was #14

Kurt was real loose, but stayed with it and will not improve. WJ improves on his run from earlier today but will stay on the bump and will race the No.1 qualifier.

Left Lane: Steve Kent No Time, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.609/209.49, Was #15
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.619/210.64, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.594/210.64, Was #13

Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 29.35 inches, adjusted altitude 2,746 feet, track temperature 119 degrees.

Kent spun the tires hard right at the hit and clicked it off and just coasted on down the 1320 and drove over into the other lane so he could make the first turn off. Brogdon with quickest pass of the round, but will not improve. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-1.002 sec., 330ft-2.789, 660ft-4.271/166.81 mph, 1,000ft-5.547.


Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 22.808/23.45, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.592/209.26, Was #12
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.610/209.01, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.587/209.39, Was #11

Morgan with a lot of tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off. Stanfield with a good looking pass with the quickest pass of the round. He will stay in the number 11 spot. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.763, 660ft-4.249/166.13 mph, 1,000ft-5.531.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.578/210.83, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.556/210.44, Was #7
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.586/210.37, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.584/209.69, Was #10

This was a good side-by-side drag race and if nothing changes this will be a round one match up. Anderson with the quickest pass of the session, but will not improve. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-1.003 sec., 330ft-2.776, 660ft-4.245/168.28 mph, 1,000ft-5.511. Nobile with the second quickest pass of the round and he will stay in the number 10 spot. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.773, 660ft-4.246/167.49 mph, 1,000ft-5.516.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.569/210.87, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.552/210.31, Was #6
Right Lane: Buddy Perkinson Runs 6.580/211.83, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.568/210.83, Was #9

Coughlin with a real nice pass, he doesn't improve, but has the quickest pass of the round. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.764, 660ft-4.234/168.18 mph, 1,000ft-5.501. Perkinson with the third quickest pass of the round, but he doesn't improve and will stay in the number nine spot. Buddy Perkinson's incremental times: 60ft-1.005 sec., 330ft-2.777, 660ft-4.248/167.91 mph, 1,000ft-5.515.

Left Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.623/191.73, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.546/211.83, Was #4
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.558/211.46, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.557/211.20, Was #8

Enders-Stevens was off the throttle early...Gaines launched hard and keep it hooked up and makes the quickest pass of the round. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-1.000 sec., 330ft-2.764, 660ft-4.231/168.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.494.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.573/211.03, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.545/211.76, Was #3
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.571/210.60, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.549/211.59, Was #5

This was a great side-by-side drag race as Johnson runs the third quickest pass of the session and Gray with the fourth quickest pass of the round. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.236/168.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.505.
Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.236/167.95 mph, 1,000ft-5.503.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.557/211.89, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.544/212.19, Was #2
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.551/211.49, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.541/211.86, Was #1

This was a great side-by-side drag race to wrap up Pro Stock qualifying. Line with the quickest pass of the round and Edwards was right there with him with the second quickest pass of the round. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.231/168.89 mph, 1,000ft-5.494.
Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.754, 660ft-4.221/168.37 mph, 1,000ft-5.486. Line qualifies No. 1 for the first time this year and the 34th time in his career.
