CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.464/183.52, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 3.860/319.29, Now #13; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 44 percent, barometer 29.37 inches, adjusted altitude 2,533 feet, track temperature 117 degrees.

Brown is dropping cylinders right at the hit and then starts to smoke the tires, then it bang the blower and the chutes came out. Pruett was straight down the groove with her quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.193, 660ft-3.102/280.25 mph.


Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.858/318.99, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.822/319.67, Was #9
Right Lane: Chris Karamesines Runs 11.004/45.76, Now #15; No Prior Run

Torrence in his second race in the top Fuel ranks ran a career best E.T. yesterday afternoon. Karamesines is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle and he clicked it off. Torrence with good looking pass, straight down the groove, but will not improve. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.178, 660ft-3.096/277.83 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.826/323.19, Now #10; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.816/317.64, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.812/307.37, Was #8

Kalitta with a great looking pass and is straight down the groove to get in the show. Kalitta with a big top end speed. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.075/282.13 mph. Force with a real nice pass until right in the lights when it had a little wiggle. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.162, 660ft-3.062/283.43 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 4.822/152.66, Now #16; No Prior Run
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.808/322.81, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.827/321.96, Was #11

McMillen starts to lose traction early and clicks it off. Grubnic launched hard and runs the quickest pass of this session to get into the top half of the show. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.162, 660ft-3.059/284.03 mph.

Left Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 9.622/72.12, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.087/218.34, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.789/324.59, Was #6

Dakin was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off. Millican with good short numbers and then around half track started to haze the tires and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.895/316.30, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.838/322.73, Was #13
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 6.202/98.59, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.787/327.59, Was #5

Vandergriff with a good clean pass, but will not improve. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.192, 660ft-3.124/274.94 mph. torrence is up in smoke early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.860/320.89, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.830/320.05, Was #12
Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 7.296/75.84, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.779/325.53, Was #4

Bernstein with another good looking pass, but he will not improve. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.175, 660ft-3.100/277.43 mph. alBalooshi starts to smoke the tires and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 4.838/148.20, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.796/320.58, Was #7
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 4.207/199.26, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.768/327.27, Was #3

Massey starts to lose traction around 200 feet and clicked off. Langdon started to haze the tires and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 4.285/193.32, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.749/324.51, Was #1
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.795/320.43, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.766/318.84, Was #2

Lucas starts to lose traction around half track and clicked it off. Schumacher launched hard and keep it hooked up with the quickest pass of the round. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.833 sec., 330ft-2.142, 660ft-3.043/283.25 mph.
