Danny Rowe raced to the qualifying lead Friday in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts at zMAX Dragway.

Rowe posted a run of 5.871 seconds at 246.80 mph in his Agave Underground Tequila Camaro during the second qualifying session to take the qualifying lead. Rowe has six No. 1 qualifying positions in his career.

NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series points leader Rickie Smith was second with a run of 5.888 at 243.55 in his late model Chevy Camaro. Defending category world champion Troy Coughlin will enter Saturday's final qualifying session outside the 16-car field in 17th.

Qualifying for the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will continue Saturday at 2 p.m. The first round of eliminations are scheduled for Saturday at 4:15 p.m. and eliminations will continue Sunday at approximately 3:30 p.m.
