CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.032/185.66, Now #11; Best prior run: 8.240/112.24, Was #20

8:05 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 44 percent, barometer 29.15 inches, adjusted altitude 2,832 feet, track temperature 96 degrees.

Johnson is able to keep the bike closer to the groove this time and gets in the show for now.


Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.982/192.85, Now #7; Best prior run: 8.046/122.40, Was #20
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 7.008/178.21, Now #11; Best prior run: 18.237/26.27, Was #21

Arana makes a clean pass this time and gets into the field in the seventh spot for now. Savoie broke off the line in the first pass but makes a full pass here and gets in the 11th spot for now.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.898/193.96, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.357/182.50, Was #20
Right Lane: Anne Hansen Runs 7.941/173.76, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.422/179.78, Was #21

Arana goes right down the groove on this pass and moves all the way to the third spot. Hansen has problems late and slows.

Left Lane: Junior Pippin Runs 7.113/184.90, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.175/181.74, Was #20
Right Lane: Dawn Minturn Runs 7.073/186.15, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.052/188.38, Was #16

Pippin improves on his earlier pass but is still off the pace. Minturn slows and is not in the field.

Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.224/178.26, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.143/188.46, Was #20
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.926/191.02, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.047/188.70, Was #15

Hines makes a big improvement and moves all the way to the fifth spot for now. Harris slows from his earlier attempt.

Left Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.100/188.36, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.126/186.98, Was #19
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 6.980/191.40, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.993/190.81, Was #11

Gann improves and moves up a couple of spots. Wells improves but not enough to get in the field.

Left Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.044/191.95, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.072/190.92, Was #17
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.955/187.83, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.988/184.90, Was #11

Pollacheck improves and moves up to the seventh spot for now. Underdahl improves but can't get into the top twelve.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.893/193.35, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.022/191.10, Was #14
Right Lane: Mike Berry No Time, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.974/190.94, Was #8

Berry starts moving to the left right off the line, takes out a couple of timing blocks and ends up in the left lane. Krawiec goes right down the groove with a good pass to get in the second spot for now.

Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.988/190.97, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.993/190.62, Was #13
Right Lane: Adam Arana Runs 6.932/191.54, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.947/191.89, Was #7

Tonglet and Arana both improve a little but not enough to move.

Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 7.013/188.41, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.977/190.70, Was #10
Right Lane: John Hall Runs 6.898/190.40, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.924/190.94, Was #5

Hall improves but stays in the fifth spot. Smith slows from his earlier attempt.

Left Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.882/194.49, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.894/194.58, Was #3
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.874/193.90, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.892/194.63, Was #1

Smith makes the quickest pass of the day to improve on his top qualifying spot. Ray improves and moves into the second spot to end this session.
