CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.822/319.67, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 86 degrees, relative humidity 39 percent, barometer 29.11 inches, adjusted altitude 3,400 feet, track temperature 112 degrees.

Torrence with a great looking pass to start the weekend. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.833 sec., 330ft-2.145, 660ft-3.062/278.86 mph.

Left Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 5.785/108.78, Now #3
Right Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 4.003/303.16, Now #2

Dakin starts to smoke the tires earl and clicks it off. Pruett with a good clean pass, straight down the groove. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-0.891 sec., 330ft-2.252, 660ft-3.202/266.11 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 4.883/148.38, Now #4
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.812/307.37, Now #1

McMillen started to lose traction early and clicked it off. Force launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.152, 660ft-3.054/284.09 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.884/318.62, Now #3
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 6.769/95.01, Now #7

Grubnic starts to lose traction early and clicked it off. Bernstein with a real nice pass to start the weekend. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.180, 660ft-3.119/271.57 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.875/320.13, Now #4
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.858/323.74, Now #3

This was a pretty good side-by-side drag race. Torrence is right in behind his dad at the number three spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.179, 660ft-3.103/278.40 mph. Vandergriff with a good looking pass to go to the number four spot. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.850 sec., 330ft-2.191, 660ft-3.114/277.15 mph.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 4.242/217.42, Now #8
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.837/320.81, Now #3

Lucas with a new in-house chassis here, he tested it on Monday. He is up in smoke around half track and clicked it off. Millican launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number three spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.173, 660ft-3.081/280.08 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.847/317.72, Now #5
Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.811/320.51, Now #1

Brown with a good pass to start the weekend and then the chutes were late coming out. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.178, 660ft-3.085/279.67 mph. alBalooshi launched hard and keep it hitting on all eight all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.164, 660ft-3.060/283.85 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.669/163.26, Now #12
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.869/321.19, Now #7

kalitta hiked the front end on the launch and then started to haze the tires around 400 feet and he clicked it off. Schumacher is straight down the groove with a nice looking pass to go to the number seven spot. He runs the second fastest pass of the round. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.203, 660ft-3.115/280.78 mph.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.848/315.86, Now #7
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.810/323.50, Now #1

This was a great drag race to wrap up round one of qualifying. Massey goes to the number seven spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.181, 660ft-3.088/281.30 mph. Langdon launched hard and it was hitting on all eight all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.161, 660ft-3.062/283.49 mph.
