Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #1

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Buddy Perkinson Runs 6.666/209.52, Now #1
Right Lane: Paul Pittman Runs 8.505/106.80, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 87 degrees, relative humidity 38 percent, barometer 29.11 inches, adjusted altitude 3,521 feet, track temperature 116 degrees.

Perkinson is driving the third Summit Racing car this weekend. This is only the second time is has been out this year, the other time was here in the Spring. He makes a clean pass to start the weekend. Pittman shakes right at the hit and clicks it off.


Left Lane: John Gaydosh Jr Runs 7.063/198.67, Now #3
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.671/198.09, Now #2

Gaydosh slows on the top end, so does WJ.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.653/208.23, Now #1
Right Lane: Steve Kent Runs 18.417/28.83, Now #6

Kent with a lot of tire shake and clicks it off. Johnson was straight down the groove with a good pass to start the weekend. Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.004 sec., 330ft-2.797, 660ft-4.286/165.78 mph, 1,000ft-5.572.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.663/206.95, Now #3
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.641/209.04, Now #1

A couple good looking passes as Stanfield goes to the number three spot and Morgan goes to the number one spot. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.788, 660ft-4.284/165.29 mph, 1,000ft-5.575.
Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.792, 660ft-4.280/165.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.562.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.657/209.10, Now #4
Right Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.602/209.72, Now #1

Brogdon with a good looking pass to go to the number four spot. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.805, 660ft-4.296/166.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.579. Enders-Stevens with the new sponsor...Husky Liners. She is straight down the groove to the number one spot. Erica Enders-Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.774, 660ft-4.251/167.16 mph, 1,000ft-5.527.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.601/210.24, Now #2
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.597/210.11, Now #1

This was a good looking side-by-side drag race as they go to the top. anderson with a great pass with the quickest pass of the session. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.777, 660ft-4.253/167.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.525. Gaines is right there with him. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-1.000 sec., 330ft-2.780, 660ft-4.258/167.41 mph, 1,000ft-5.530.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.586/210.24, Now #1
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.593/209.62, Now #2

These two go to the top of the list...Line with a real nice pass to go to the number one spot. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.242/167.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.515. Gray is right there with him to go to the number two spot. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.764, 660ft-4.241/166.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.517.

Left Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.584/209.69, Now #1
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.596/209.43, Now #4

Nobile launched hard and was straight down the groove to the number one spot. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.765, 660ft-4.241/167.36 mph, 1,000ft-5.513. Coughlin with a real nice pass to start the weekend to the number four spot. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.763, 660ft-4.243/166.62 mph, 1,000ft-5.520.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.606/209.69, Now #9
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.588/210.77, Now #3

Edwards with a good looking pass, straight down the groove to the number three spot. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.774, 660ft-4.249/167.63 mph, 1,000ft-5.519. Johnson goes to the number nine spot. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.258/167.09 mph, 1,000ft-5.532.
