CONCORD, N.C. -- Burning rubber, header flames and nitro will fill the air this weekend, Sept. 13-15, at the Carlyle
Professional Hand Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts at zMAX Dragway. It's
that time of the year again when the stars of the NHRA take to the track in hopes of starting their
Countdown to the Championship dreams off right! Fans are in for more than just three days of
adrenaline-pumping action on the track. Other activities including a blood drive, track walk
alongside their favorite drivers, a charity pancake breakfast and great renewal options to take in
all the action next year.

Among other activities, fans can walk the track with some of
the NHRA's best drivers, including Funny Car driver Ron Capps, on Sunday of the Carlyle Tools
NHRA Carolina Nationals. (CMS/HHP photo)

"Laps for Life" Blood Drive and Dual Burnout
In honor of the 9/11 anniversary, fans can give blood and take a ride in a NASCAR Racing Experience
stock car at the "Laps for Life" Blood Drive Wednesday, Sept. 11. Donors will also receive two
tickets to Bojangles' Pole Night on Oct. 10, among other gifts. To schedule an appointment, visit
redcrossblood.org and enter Sponsor Code "Laps for Life." You can also call 1-800-RED CROSS

Along with the blood drive, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series five-time champion Jimmie Johnson and NHRA Top
Fuel seven-time champion Tony Schumacher will host a dual burnout and driver fan forum on pit road
for those who give blood.
Night of Fire
Flames will rise as fans witness the fastest accelerating machines on the planet streak down zMAX
Dragway against the night sky. Back by popular demand, qualifying sessions for the all-important
kick-off race in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship will take place Friday evening. Later
on-track times mean a cooler track and the possibility of record-breaking lap times. It also means
fans will be in for a show when header flames reach heights close to 10 feet above the dragsters as
they blast down the dragway for their qualifying laps. This Night of Fire is sure to get every fan's
adrenaline pumping!
Fans From All Over to Converge at zMAX Dragway
Fast cars and exciting pyrotechnics bring people from all over to the Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina
Nationals. Fans from Puerto Rico, Australia, Canada and 35 different states will be at zMAX Dragway
to take in all the event has to offer. Although they may be coming from different places, all eyes
will be glued to the track as the NHRA drivers vie for championship points.
Speedway Children's Charities (SCC), B.R.A.K.E.S. Partner in Fundraising Breakfast
The Hot Rods and Hot Cakes breakfast, held on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the Don Schumacher Hospitality
Area under the Matco/Pitch Energy Tent from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., will give fans the opportunity to eat
breakfast alongside the NHRA's most recognizable drivers and team owners.
Tickets for the Hot Rods and Hot Cakes breakfast are $20. All proceeds will help SCC continue to
support local children in need as well as help B.R.A.K.E.S. to teach teens the importance of safe
driving. To purchase your tickets call Lisa Starnes with SCC at 704-455-4426 or visit the SCC display
outside zMAX Dragway this weekend at the event.
Don't Let the NHRA Fun Stop in 2013!
The only thing better than experiencing the Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals at the Bellagio of
drag strips is experiencing it twice. Now fans have three more reasons to renew their 2014 tickets
now. Just $10 down per ticket holds this year's seat for the action when the fastest accelerating
machines on the planet return to zMAX Dragway in 2014. Not only that, but if fans renew their tickets
during this year's Sept. 13-15 event, they will get the choice of two free gifts. Gift options
include a free hand tool, barbecue grill set or 300-watt power inverter. Don't miss any of the action
by getting your tickets today on our website or by calling 1-800-455-FANS (3267).
Take a Walk Down the Dragstrip with NHRA Drivers
On Sunday, Sept. 15, fans can participate in a track walk with NHRA drivers, including Ron Capps, and
their families before the elimination rounds kick-off. The walk begins at 10 a.m. and is free to all
Sunday ticket holders. Fans should come early to enjoy the Jeff Taylor Band live and other
festivities going on before the air is filled with nitro.

start at $25 for adults on Friday and $45 Saturday and Sunday, while children 13 and under are free
all weekend. Spectator gates open at 7:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday with
