Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 50 percent, barometer 28.93 inches, adjusted altitude 3,384 feet, track temperature 110 degrees.

This is the first time in Indy history that two bikes from the bottom half of the field have met in the final round. And the #9 and #15 qualifiers have never been in a final at Indy in the bike class.

Smith has already won once this year and has had two runner-ups. In the one hundred and fifty-six races in his career, he has won fourteen times and been runner-up seventeen times. This is his thirty-first final round. Team-mate Hall has won once this year too. The only win in his twenty-five races. Smith is 2 - 1 against Hall in prior events and this is the first time they have faced each other in a final round.

Team Viper to the line!

Smith jumps out in front at the green and stays there until mid-track. Hall catches up at that point and they are dead even going into the top half of the track. Hall starts a slow and steady improvement and is just three feet ahead at the finish line. John Hall is the Pro Stock Bike Champion!

John Hall's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.027), 330 ft(-0.026), 660ft(0.000), 1,000ft(0.012). MOV: 0.0102 seconds (approximately 3 feet).

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.064 sec., 330ft-2.889, 660ft-4.489/152.54 mph, 1,000ft-5.881.
