2:09 p.m. Patrick made a race of it, but Jackson really opened the gap in the second half of the track.

Housley had a small edge at the green, but shook so hard that something broke and the car rolled to a stop right at the finish line. Hall got very close to the center stripe, but avoided the disqualification that would precipitate.

Laurita left first and steadily opened the gap to win by about a car length. He will have lane choice against Jackson in the semifinals.

This was a big upset. Castellana was first off the line and was pulling away, but the rear of his car kicked out to the left and he had to backpedal to straighten it out. By then, Franklin had the lead and didn't give it back.

Tommy Franklin's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.035), 330 ft(-0.018). MOV: 0.0730 seconds (approximately 20 feet).

Franklin will have lane choice agianst Hall in the semifinals.
