MOHNTON, Pa. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Northeast Division, event at Maple Grove Raceway:

12:33 p.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 34 percent, barometer 29.50 inches, adjusted altitude 1,352 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

Pomponio won the division opener at Virginia in April He won here in 2005. This time, Pomponio shook the rear tires hard off the starting line and shut it down. For the first time this season, he'll be going home without a round win. Lourie had the tuneup right and took his car straight down the groove for the win.

Anderika is in as an alternate for John Headley, whose car broke during the second qualifying session last night. Cox smoked the tires off the starting line, pedaled it and smoked the tires again. Anderika had a clean run off the starting line and went on to take the win.

Gill is competing in his first Top Alcohol Funny Car event, His father, Paul, was runner up here last years. Veney was runner up here in 2011. Both drivers were clean out of the gate, with Gill ahead at 60 feet. Then he drifted out of the groove and Veney pulled ahead to take the win. Veney will have lane choice over Anderika in round two.

Manzo has won more division Top Alcohol Funny Car races than anyone else. Since 2000, he has won here 10 times, with the exceptions being 2009, 2006 and 2005. Ferriolo's car broke in the second qualifying session so Manzo had a single run. He'll have lane choice over Lourie in the next round.
