Rain Delays Top Fuel Qualifying
By Larry Sullivan

POMONA, Calif. - 3:11 p.m. - During the cleanup following Jack Beckman's spectacular, body-shredding explosion, Mother Nature decided to get into the act again.

The stands quickly cleared and the racing surface is wet and shiny, so it will take 30-40 minutes to dry the track once this latest shower comes to an end.

Yet to run today are Top Fuel, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Top Alcohol Dragster and Competition Eliminator.

If the rain stops soon, all should get their first qualifying session out of the way today, but if the rain delays continue, one or more of them could have to wait until tomorrow.
