Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #3

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 12th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.807/324.20, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.773/323.66, Was #1
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 4.654/160.46, Now #13; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 19 percent, barometer 27.95 inches, adjusted altitude 3,770 feet, track temperature 91 degrees.

Schumacher launched hard and keep it hooked up with a real nice pass to start Saturday. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.167, 660ft-3.060/283.67 mph. Buff was up in smoke early and clicked it off, but got a number on the board.


Left Lane: Chris Karamesines Runs 12.365/74.09, Now #15; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 3.871/304.05, Now #11; No Prior Run

Karamesines is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. McClenathan launched hard and was straight down the groove to get in the show. Cory McClenathan's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.153, 660ft-3.081/271.41 mph.

Left Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 4.094/272.94, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.787/317.19, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.807/323.43, Was #3

Chrisman with a nice pass until right in the lights when the engine went away with a quick flash of flames, but he gets in the show. Massey launched hard and keep it hooked up make his quickest pass of the weekend and the second quickest pass of the weekend. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.153, 660ft-3.039/287.29 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.893/314.02, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 5.157/144.06, Now #17; No Prior Run

Lucas is up in smoke early and pedals it and is back up in smoke before he clicks it off. McMillen with a good pass to get in the show. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.179, 660ft-3.117/271.41 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 5.470/124.32, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.869/313.88, Was #10
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 4.059/220.30, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.815/323.19, Was #5

Brown is up in smoke by 300 feet and clicked it off. Langdon started to haze the tires around half track.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.970/255.97, Now #15; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 4.907/149.65, Now #18; No Prior Run

Salinas is up in smoke early and clicked it off. Bernstein started to haze the tires about the same time he started to drop some cylinders and he gets into the show. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.156, 660ft-3.094/257.24 mph.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.853/319.22, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.899/315.12, Was #14
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 6.472/100.80, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.860/315.71, Was #9

Millican starts to haze the tires around 300 feet and clicks it off. Grubnic with his quickest pass of the weekend to get into the top half. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.172, 660ft-3.091/276.29 mph.

Left Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 4.257/213.03, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.878/316.23, Was #13
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.852/317.94, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.859/316.60, Was #9

Zizzo started to haze the tires and it appeared like he might of used up an engine with a quick flash of flame. Torrence with his quickest pass of weekend to get into the top half of the show. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.860 sec., 330ft-2.181, 660ft-3.092/278.86 mph.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.804/325.69, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.839/308.14, Was #6
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.829/321.35, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.844/317.64, Was #7

This is great side-by-side drag race alBalooshi with the second quickest pass of the round to move up to the number two spot. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.161, 660ft-3.061/283.19 mph. Todd with his quickest pass of the weekend, but will stay in the number seven spot. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.075/281.25 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.794/151.48, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.800/324.75, Was #3
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.255/201.73, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.810/323.97, Was #5

Kalitta starts to haze the tire and clicks it off...Vandergriff made a little further down track before he started to lose traction.
