Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #2

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 12th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.995/241.58, Now #6; Best prior run: 14.097/93.09, Was #20
Right Lane: Harold Martin No Time, Now #16; Best prior run: 9.661/100.81, Was #15

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 16 percent, barometer 28.01 inches, adjusted altitude 3,733 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.

Martin with problems before the burnout and is pushed off the starting line. Payne with a real nice pass to get in the top half of the show. Jay Payne's incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.655, 660ft-3.956/190.57 mph, 1,000ft-5.063.


Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 6.278/239.74, Now #11; Best prior run: 12.085/73.40, Was #20
Right Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 5.924/250.23, Now #2; Best prior run: 9.498/99.89, Was #15

Knowles starts to lose traction and pedals it off. Leah with a great pass to go to the number two spot. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-1.020 sec., 330ft-2.702, 660ft-3.963/198.26 mph, 1,000ft-5.026.

Left Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 6.140/242.23, Now #11; Best prior run: 11.839/89.20, Was #20
Right Lane: Chris Juliano No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 9.433/118.94, Was #16

Juliano with problems on the burnout and is leaking oil and is shut off. Lang gets into the show. Kenny Lang's incremental times: 60ft-1.052 sec., 330ft-2.771, 660ft-4.095/188.33 mph, 1,000ft-5.208.

Left Lane: Donald Martin Runs 5.917/244.12, Now #2; Best prior run: 11.394/90.90, Was #20
Right Lane: Mike Janis Runs 6.020/239.91, Now #10; Best prior run: 9.208/98.18, Was #16

Janis with a clean pass to get off the bubble and to the number 10 spot. Martin is out of the groove early and is hugging the centerline all the way down the track, but stays in his lane and goes to the number two spot. Donald Martin's incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.611, 660ft-3.903/192.96 mph, 1,000ft-4.996.

Left Lane: Dennis Radford Runs 6.040/237.63, Now #12; Best prior run: 11.046/77.67, Was #20
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 7.339/146.45, Now #17; Best prior run: 8.594/122.99, Was #17

King makes a move in the right direction, but doesn't get in the show. Radford with a nice pass to get in the show. Dennis Radford's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.670, 660ft-3.979/188.86 mph, 1,000ft-5.095.

Left Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 6.408/237.25, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.966/233.24, Was #16
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.013/239.70, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.903/152.24, Was #18

Smith with a good pass to get in the show and keep his title hopes alive. Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.012 sec., 330ft-2.683, 660ft-3.979/191.62 mph, 1,000ft-5.080. Satterfield is loose, but stays with it, but will not get in the show..

Left Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 5.989/242.06, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.989/242.06, Was #8
Right Lane: Raymond Commisso Runs 10.094/86.90, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.023/244.21, Was #13

Coughlin just making his second pass in competition with his new car and he gets into the top half of the show. Troy Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.023 sec., 330ft-2.740, 660ft-3.995/198.15 mph, 1,000ft-5.064. Commisso shook hard and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 6.033/243.11, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.967/242.67, Was #6
Right Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 9.826/91.32, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.019/237.59, Was #11

Matusek shook real hard and got real close to the wall before he lifted. No help here Tutterow.

Left Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 5.958/239.31, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.945/239.91, Was #5
Right Lane: Pete Farber Runs 5.971/243.46, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.972/243.24, Was #7

Farber improves, but stays in the number seven spot...Castellana with another good pass, but doesn't improve. Mike Castellana's incremental times: 60ft-0.972 sec., 330ft-2.616, 660ft-3.915/190.78 mph, 1,000ft-5.021.

Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 5.878/245.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.926/243.68, Was #4
Right Lane: Don Walsh Runs 8.394/129.00, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.841/253.85, Was #1

Walsh shook and clicked it off, but will stay in the number one spot. Rowe with the quickest pass of the round, but will stay in the number two spot. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.953 sec., 330ft-2.581, 660ft-3.871/193.16 mph, 1,000ft-4.960.
