LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 12th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Johann Wernhart Runs 15.689/59.55, Now #2
Right Lane: Mike Drake Runs 14.589/56.33, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 28.15 inches, adjusted altitude 2,986 feet, track temperature 72 degrees.

Wernhart is making his National event debut here and shakes hard right at the hit and the car is sideways before he clicks it off. Drake shook hard right at the hit and clicked it off.

Right Lane: Ross Stickler Runs 6.276/166.03, Now #2

McLaws made a quick move toward the wall right at the hit, but reeled it in...Strickler has a bang just past half track and coast through the 1320.

Right Lane: John Evanchuk Runs 5.780/250.32, Now #1

Parker banged the blower as the chute deployed just before half track and coat through the lights. Evanchuk with a nice pass to start the weekend...John Evanchuk's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.567, 660ft-3.817/198.23 mph, 1,000ft-4.881.

This was good side-by-side drag race with Westerfield going to the number two spot and Gasparrelli right there with him. Shane Westerfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.962 sec., 330ft-2.504, 660ft-3.715/204.60 mph, 1,000ft-4.750.
Steve Gasparrelli's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.545, 660ft-3.775/201.37 mph, 1,000ft-4.822.

Right Lane: Jay Payne No Time, Now #16

Payne with problems on the burnout and shuts the car off. Lombardo Jr. was straight down the groove to go to the number three spot. John Lombardo Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.958 sec., 330ft-2.554, 660ft-3.786/201.55 mph, 1,000ft-4.824.

Whiteley launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Annie Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.965 sec., 330ft-2.496, 660ft-3.689/207.72 mph, 1,000ft-4.707. Hool was straight the groove to get in the show.
