MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 28th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, amount over/under index, and position in order following run, class and class index:

Left Lane: Tom Ekroth Runs 7.495/178.52/-0.435, Now #1 C/A Index: 7.93
Right Lane: Kevin Houghtaling Runs 19.801/51.43/10.521, Now #2 H/SM Index: 9.28

Houghtaling with troubles as soon as the light turned green and he idled down the track over by the wall. Ekroth with a clean pass...

Mangrum was out of power by 200 feet. Scott with a clean pass.

Right Lane: Greg Mannix Runs 7.586/141.49/0.106, Now #4 B/ED Index: 7.48

Miscovsky with problems right at the hit and then got back on the throttle.

ross with a nice pass to go to the number one spot. Niemczyk with a lot of tire shake right at the launch and then had a lot of engine smoke on the top end.
