BAYTOWN, Texas - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, South Central Division, first event at Royal Purple Raceway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Joey Tanksley Runs 6.788/197.51/-0.452, Now #6; C/D Index: 7.24, Prior Best: 6.788/197.51/-0.452, Was #6
Right Lane: Vince Roberts Runs 7.838/167.30/-0.622, Now #1; F/EA Index: 8.46, Prior Best: 7.838/167.30/-0.622, Was #1

4:30 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 79 percent, barometer 29.63 inches, adjusted altitude 2,275 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.
Roberts isn't in the computer yet - mainly because his tech card says he's in Super Comp. It's a '32 Bantam.

And he goes to the #1 spot on a good run. However, since the car was teched in as a Super Comp car, he may not stay there.

Johnson's Bantam got lots of air under the front wheels and he shut it off. Self is apparently not in the class that came up in the computer, but if he's in the usual F/EA, he's now #1.

Cashio went down the track this time around on a nice run.

Williams made another good run, improved slightly. Hall failed to improve.

Left Lane: Mike Trumble Runs 8.634/157.03/-0.346, Now #13; B/SMA Index: 8.98, Prior Best: 16.518/70.56/7.538, Was #17

Trumble went through the clutch on his first try, this one went a lot better. But he's still not up to his performance level yet.
