BROWNSBURG, Ind. -- Fresh from winning its ninth NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing world championship, Don Schumacher Racing has steered into another winner's circle.

The powerful motorsports organization was selected this week as the Top Business in Brownsburg, Ind., for companies with 50 or more employees, by the Brownsburg Chamber of Commerce.

"Our board of directors voted to honor Don Schumacher Racing for the success it has had off and on the race track," said Brian Rose, executive director of the Brownsburg Chamber of Commerce. "DSR displays excellence, a drive to succeed and are willing to give back to the community."

Rose said he believes DSR is the first of several Brownsburg-based motorsports organizations to be honored with the Chamber's award.

"When Mike Lewis (DSR Senior Vice President) called me and told me of the award, I was very surprised," team owner Don Schumacher said. "It's a great honor to be recognized amongst the many great businesses in the Brownsburg area. We have made a tremendous commitment to growing our business and bringing jobs to the area and plan to continue to do so."

DSR houses seven professional drag racing teams in its 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art headquarters that opened March 1, 2005, in Brownsburg, which is seven miles west of Indianapolis.

"Brownsburg has become home to most of the leading NHRA nitro teams, and has a dynamic impact on the economy outside of racing too," said Mike Lewis, DSR senior vice president. "To be selected Brownsburg 'Business of the Year' is a great honor and a reflection on the great employees at Don Schumacher Racing."

DSR is home to its fleet of 18 tractor-trailers that support the race teams, hospitality and show car operations. DSR builds its own race cars in the fabrication shop and many of the parts and pieces are built and serviced inside with the CNC machine shops within the facility.

Matt Hagan, driver of the DieHard Dodge Charger R/T, delivered DSR the NHRA Funny Car championship on Nov. 13 in Pomona, Calif.
