Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Final Session
By Larry Sullivan

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 47th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.636/186.38, Now #24; Best prior run: 21.595/54.79, Was #25
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.138/191.54, Now #21; Best prior run: 18.259/41.56, Was #24

3:19 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 65 degrees, relative humidity 55 percent, barometer 28.68 inches, adjusted altitude 2,382 feet, track temperature 71 degrees.

Bailey Whitaker is on the bump spot at 6.960.

Harris had a lot of wheel spin and tire hop at the start and that doomed his chances. Camarena took his shot, also came up short.

Left Lane: James Surber Runs 7.154/185.28, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.222/185.61, Was #23

Surber improved over his earlier effort, but also came up short.

Left Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 6.990/190.24, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.996/191.05, Was #18
Right Lane: Larry Cook Runs 7.176/183.49, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.165/181.37, Was #23

Cook was very close to the centerline on the top end, did not get in. Guidera went right down the groove, also missed the cut.

Left Lane: Fredrik Fredlund Runs 7.060/190.14, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.995/191.92, Was #18
Right Lane: Katie Sullivan Runs 7.120/186.30, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.044/187.21, Was #20

These two would need to run career-bests to make the field. Neither was able to break into the sixes and their weekend is over.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.020/192.82, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.955/193.74, Was #15
Right Lane: Justin Finley Runs 6.943/194.58, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.004/192.93, Was #19

Finley is the last not-qualified rider in line for this session. He pulled it off, bumps Whitaker in the field, and appears to be safely in. Now Michael Phillips is on the bump spot at 6.955, failing to improve here.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.937/193.90, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.925/192.99, Was #14
Right Lane: Bailey Whitaker Runs 6.990/191.32, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.960/190.16, Was #17

Either Whitaker or Phillips will race tomorrow, not both.

Whitaker failed to improve and Phillips will race the #1 qualifier in round one tomorrow. Stoffer made a clean run, did not improve.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.990/194.60, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.905/192.22, Was #12
Right Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.048/191.46, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.922/193.07, Was #13

Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.938/193.82, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.902/194.21, Was #9

Two good runs, no improvement.

Left Lane: Michael Ray No Time, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.900/192.63, Was #8
Right Lane: LE Tonglet No Time, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.894/192.28, Was #6

Both broke on the launch, stopping before reaching the tree.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.911/193.35, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.896/193.46, Was #7
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.889/194.13, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.871/194.91, Was #4

Again, two good runs, no improvement.

Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.851/195.39, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.832/194.04, Was #2

Shawn Gann was supposed to be beside Arana here, did make an attempt. Jr. made a nice run - no improvement, but quickest of the round so far.

Hector Arana Jr's incremental times: 60ft-1.057 sec., 330ft-2.846, 660ft-4.369/160.46 mph, 1,000ft-5.705.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.850/196.87, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.853/195.99, Was #3
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.959/194.41, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.820/197.54, Was #1

Krawiec "pipped" Arana Jr. for low ET of the session, stays third. Hines started falling behind right from the start and won't earn a bonus point this round.
