Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #1

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 11th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Clint Hairston Runs 6.756/237.55, Now #1

Hairston made a quick move toward the wall and pedaled it one time.

Left Lane: Adam Flamholc No Time, Now #3
Right Lane: Joe Lepone Jr Runs 6.292/223.73, Now #1

Flamholc shook and made a quick move toward the centerline before he clicked it off. Lepone Jr. was straight down the groove...Joe Lepone Jr's incremental times: 60ft-1.009 sec., 330ft-2.722, 660ft-4.103/178.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.289.

Left Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 9.497/129.33, Now #4
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 8.112/119.25, Now #3

Matusek shook and and pedaled it but couldn't get it to hook back up and clicked it off. King shook and clicked it off early.

Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 5.906/252.19, Now #1
Right Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 6.785/227.65, Now #4

Knowles shook right off the starting line and clicked it off. Pruett launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number one spot. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-1.032 sec., 330ft-2.716, 660ft-3.963/199.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.015.

Left Lane: Brad Personett Runs 5.996/254.81, Now #2
Right Lane: Pete Farber Runs 10.469/85.15, Now #8

Farber started to shake the tires early and clicked it off..Personett was lazy on the launch, but then blasted on through the 1320 with a good pass. Brad Personett's incremental times: 60ft-1.019 sec., 330ft-2.761, 660ft-4.043/195.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.109.

Left Lane: Scott Ray Runs 6.040/237.17, Now #3
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 6.355/234.66, Now #5

Ray was straight down the groove to go to the number three spot. Scott Ray's incremental times: 60ft-1.043 sec., 330ft-2.660, 660ft-3.973/188.20 mph, 1,000ft-5.092. Coughlin with a clean pass to start the weekend. Troy Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.047 sec., 330ft-2.847, 660ft-4.243/181.72 mph, 1,000ft-5.391.

Left Lane: Roger Burgess No Time, Now #13
Right Lane: Donald Martin Runs 6.027/242.50, Now #3

Burgess left before the tree was activated and then had a real nice pass....Martin with a great pass...Donald Martin's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.668, 660ft-3.987/189.28 mph, 1,000ft-5.097.

Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 16.469/28.40, Now #13
Right Lane: Dennis Radford Runs 6.026/232.35, Now #3

Payne was real loose right at the hit and got real close to the wall, but did a great job driving...Radford with a real nice pass...going to the number three spot. Dennis Radford's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.620, 660ft-3.934/189.66 mph, 1,000ft-5.062.

Left Lane: Mike Janis Runs 6.209/229.04, Now #6
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 9.172/94.69, Now #12

Smith started to shake around 300 feet and clicked it off. Janis gets into the top half of the show. Mike Janis' incremental times: 60ft-1.018 sec., 330ft-2.740, 660ft-4.106/183.34 mph, 1,000ft-5.246.

Left Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 13.672/39.06, Now #16
Right Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 5.930/251.20, Now #2

Lang smoked the tires right at the hit and clicked it off. Troxel launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-1.023 sec., 330ft-2.703, 660ft-3.965/197.42 mph, 1,000ft-5.032.

Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 6.007/243.33, Now #4
Right Lane: Khalid Balooshi Runs 6.019/238.43, Now #5

This was a good side-by-side drag race with them going to the number four and five spots. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-1.013 sec., 330ft-2.679, 660ft-3.981/191.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.080.
Khalid Balooshi's incremental times: 60ft-1.025 sec., 330ft-2.673, 660ft-3.970/191.05 mph, 1,000ft-5.077.
