BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Junior Fuel at the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series, 20th annual California Hot Rod Reunion, presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Johnnie Laird Runs 7.676/172.76, Now #2
Right Lane: Brandon Lewis Runs 7.507/174.80, Now #1

4:24 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 84 degrees, relative humidity 38 percent, barometer 28.95 inches, adjusted altitude 2,988 feet, track temperature 112 degrees.

Two clean passes and Lewis gets the best of Laird to set a mark for the field.

Brandon Lewis' incremental times: 60ft-1.116 sec., 330ft-3.059, 660ft-4.743/144.38 mph, 1,000ft-6.228.

Right Lane: Odie Coker Runs 7.269/182.28, Now #2

Wheel up leave for Enriquez and he resets the top mark.

Coker leaves 0.001 quicker than Enriquez off the line, but can't match the pace down track.

Don Enriquez's incremental times: 60ft-1.047 sec., 330ft-2.956, 660ft-4.596/149.18 mph, 1,000ft-6.023.
Odie Coker's incremental times: 60ft-1.086 sec., 330ft-2.978, 660ft-4.611/149.45 mph, 1,000ft-6.044.

Right Lane: Fred Notkza Runs 7.180/185.00, Now #1

It's Notkza from start to finish. He gets away first and cards the third best sixty foot time of the session. He has the power and takes over the new top spot.

Zink has the second best sixty foot time, but not the top end power and has to settle for the current #4 spot.

Lander takes his time off the line and then powers on the top end to the best ET and MPH of the session.
