REYNOLDS, Ga. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Southeast Division, event at Silver Dollar Raceway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Melinda Green-King Runs 5.964/242.23, Now #4; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Duane Beers No Time, Now #8; No Prior Run

4:40 p.m. Beers can't get the car to back up after the burnout and is unable to make a pass. He was disqualified in the first round and will not have a qualifying attempt. Green-King goes right down the groove and gets in the field in the fourth spot.

Left Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.808/252.33, Now #4; Best prior run: 8.102/110.59, Was #5
Right Lane: Todd Veney Runs 5.660/255.05, Now #2; Best prior run: 28.000/0.00, Was #7

Veney makes a good run, right down the groove, and he moves into the second spot. Hough rattled the tires early but was able to drive through it and make a decent pass.

Left Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 5.724/254.90, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.915/246.80, Was #5
Right Lane: Clint Thompson Runs 5.812/246.21, Now #6; Best prior run: 14.292/97.88, Was #7

Thompson drifts to the left, pedals once, drifts a little right but stays on the throttle and makes a decent pass to move up a spot. Gasparrelli improves and moves up a spot in the order.

Left Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 5.801/254.66, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.586/258.96, Was #1
Right Lane: Mark Billington Runs 12.923/64.31, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.689/256.45, Was #3

Billington shakes the tires right off the line, gets about 200 feet out and backs off the throttle. Ferro has to pedal about 400 feet out but still makes a decent pass.
