REYNOLDS, Ga. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Southeast Division, event at Silver Dollar Raceway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Duane Beers Runs 6.510/208.71, Now #2
Right Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 5.586/258.96, Now #1

1:32 p.m. Ferro goes right down the groove with a clean pass to set the early pace. Beers stumbled out of the gate and never really made a good move.

Left Lane: Todd Veney No Time, Now #3
Right Lane: Melinda Green-King No Time, Now #5

King was on a decent run, drifted to the left, then took out the timing blocks at the end of the track. Veney was behind her so his ET will not count.

Left Lane: Mark Billington Runs 5.689/256.45, Now #2
Right Lane: Brian Hough Runs 8.102/110.59, Now #4

Hough rattled the tires early, made a quick move toward the wall, then backed off the throttle. Billington goes right down the groove and moves into the second spot.

Left Lane: Clint Thompson Runs 14.292/97.88, Now #6
Right Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 5.915/246.80, Now #3

Thompson goes up in smoke at the hit and clicks it off. Gasparrelli hazes the tires a little about 300 feet out but stays on the throttle and makes a decent pass.
