Grubnic lost traction
early and clicked it off. Karamesines with his first pass of the weekend is straight down the
groove to get in the show. Chris Karamesines' incremental times: 60ft-0.940 sec., 330ft-2.389,
660ft-3.395/250.88 mph. Left Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 4.007/300.20, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.193/72.68, Was #16 Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 13.701/61.97, Now #18; Best prior run: 11.323/67.80, Was #18 Fuller launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Rod Fuller's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.231, 660ft-3.200/261.47 mph. McClenathan launched and as soon as he did the fuel line came off shooting fuel every where with a big trail of fire on the track following him. That was bizarre... he is out of the car and is fine. Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 8.000/75.28, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.501/91.05, Was #15 Right Lane: Dom Lagana Runs 4.068/278.52, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.773/85.79, Was #16 Massey launched with the front end in the air and lost traction right off the starting line. Lagana with a real nice pass...he had a big wiggle on the top end, but gets in the top half of the field. Dom Lagana's incremental times: 60ft-0.858 sec., 330ft-2.227, 660ft-3.225/252.14 mph. Left Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 10.358/79.50, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.347/216.17, Was #13 Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.954/302.75, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.156/98.43, Was #15 Strasburg was up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off. Buff launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.221, 660ft-3.161/269.08 mph. Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 7.812/87.16, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.171/229.74, Was #11 Right Lane: Morgan Lucas No Time, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.740/195.65, Was #15 Langdon lost traction early and clicked it off. Lucas was a real good pass until right in the lights when the engine let go with a huge fireball. The report from the top end is there is oil on the track, so he won't get his E.T. or speed because of an oil down penality. Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.012/266.53, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.105/287.35, Was #9 Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.919/303.84, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.245/223.50, Was #13 Dixon launched hard and was straight down the groove with a grat looking pass to go to the number one spot. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.186, 660ft-3.130/269.73 mph. Vandergriff was right there with Dixon until around 800 feet when the engine went bang and quick flash of flames. He still gets into the top half of the show for now. Left Lane: Del Worsham Runs 3.936/291.13, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.047/272.39, Was #7 Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 4.387/191.48, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.131/253.33, Was #11 McMillen was on a good pass until about half track when the engine went silent. Worsham like his teammate, launched hard and was straight down Broadway to go to the number two spot, right behind Dixon. Del Worsham's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.188, 660ft-3.135/270.00 mph. Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 8.782/86.25, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.012/293.98, Was #6 Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.985/298.27, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.087/284.93, Was #10 Kalitta was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off. Bernstein with a great looking pass to get into the top half of the show. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.858 sec., 330ft-2.213, 660ft-3.181/262.28 mph. Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.921/301.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.984/297.48, Was #4 Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.950/306.74, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.065/268.54, Was #9 This was a great drag race to wrap up day one of qualifying. Brown goes to the number four spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.207, 660ft-3.162/266.64 mph. Schumacher goes to the number two spot with a great pass.
