MOCKSVILLE, N.C. -- On October 1st the Extreme Outlaw Pro Mods were once again at the historic Farmington Dragway known
as "the Farm" to get in a rescheduled race after last weekends rainout. "This was the absolute
last chance that guys had to become eligible for the 2nd Annual Extreme Outlaw Pro Mod Nationals
and as you saw there were several who took advantage of the opportunity" said Shawn Kelly of the
EOPM. In the staging lanes for three rounds of exciting heads up doorslammer qualifying for the
Best of the Best Quick 8 were newcomers Ronnie Gardner, Keith Floyd, Ken Regenthal, Robbie Keziah,
Ronnie Hood, and Tom Joseph, along with the points leader Charles Terrell, Andy Jensen, Travis
Harvey, Danny Perry, Todd Howard, Tommy Mauney, Andy Beal, Randy Weatherford, Wayne Hawkins, Steve
Cossis, Kevin Rivenbark, and Greg Godwin. The wild Farmington fans were in for an exhilirating
night as the EOPM would have the fastest field ever at the Farm. After 3 rounds of qualifying it
would be Charles Terrell winning the Speedtech low qualifier honors with a 3.91 in his Blown
Mustang. Todd Howard would put the JW Motorsports Nitrous powered Mustang in the number 2 spot
with a 3.95 making the blue oval lovers around the world estatic to be qualified 1 and 2. Randy
Weatherford would run a 3.962 to take the number three spot in his Nitrous powered 69 camaro. The
small block turbo charged Camaro entry of Andy Jensen would qualify fourth with a 3.968. Extreme
Outlaw Pro Mod sponsor Andy Beal would put his Blown 63 Vette in the number five spot with a
3.972. Competing in his first EOPM event, newcomer Keith Floyd would run career best numbers with
a 3.987 in his Blown 63 Vette to take the number six spot. Former Big Dogg Champion the Carolina
Kid Travis Harvey would qualify number seven with a 3.99 in his Nitrous powered Camaro. In the
number eight spot would be Danny Perry with a 4.01 in his Nitrous powered ZR-1 Corvette bumping out
Greg Godwin's 4.02.
Through some serious rounds of eliminations Charles Terrell would take out Danny Perry, Andy Beal,
and Todd Howard while he ran 3.91, 3.90, and a 9.94 to win his third straight EOPM event. Charles
and Tracy Terrell have dedicated this entire championship season to the memory of Leslie Thaxton
Childress. Talking with Charles this week he quickly said that none of this woud be possible
without God who blessed him with the greatest pit crew consisting of Jay Buckner, Nathan
Gastellum, Gary McCandles, Ronnie Brown, Scott Gunn, and Tracy and Austin Terrell. Charles and his
team made winning the 2011 EOPM Championship there goal after competing for the first time with the
club last November. "This is the best thing going in my opinion. The guys do a excellent job of
promoting the club and the racers. It feels good to just race with the caliber of teams this club
brings so winning the championship is very special to me. I know the new season starts in
November at Coastal Plains and we will be ready to start defending this championship with the same
mindset we had to win it" said Charles Terrell. The Terrell Racing Team would like to thank Pepsi
bottling, and Hank Thomas Performance for all your support this season with a special thanks to
Rick Moore.
I gotta say Terrell's run may have had some controversial times but this team has worked very hard
to win the championship and are definitely deserving after the late season performance. Just look
at the list of names they beat at the Farm on the 1st and the guys he beat at the last Dunn Benson
event in August. Todd Howard who is the 2011 Big Dogg Champ, Andy Beal, Danny Perry, Sambo Price,
Todd Tutterow, and the 2010 EOPM champ Dewayne Silance. These guys qualify regularly with the Best
of the Best for a reason. Some of you may hold a grudge or just may not respect what this team has
done in 2011, but the blue collar, hard worker with determination to donate has earned his position
as the 2nd Extreme Outlaw Pro Mod Champion and we are proud of this EOPM Team. Oh yeah now his
goal is to win the EOPM Nationals to cap off a great year.
