Competition Eliminator Qualifying Notes, Session #1

NOBLE, Okla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, South Central Division, event at Thunder Valley Raceway Park listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, amount over/under index, and position in order following run, class and class index:

Left Lane: Cody Johnson Runs 8.897/151.33/-0.283, Now #1 H/AA Index: 9.18
Right Lane: Duane Robison Runs 8.161/132.74/0.231, Now #2 C/A Index: 7.93

12:55 p.m. It's overcast and cooler than expected.

Left Lane: Michael Johnson Runs 7.409/178.50/-0.431, Now #1 A/EA Index: 7.84
Right Lane: Leslie Carson Runs 16.893/53.63/9.383, Now #4 B/A Index: 7.51

Carson rattled the tires and slowed.

Left Lane: Dick Maris Runs 8.167/118.81/0.607, Now #5 C/DA Index: 7.56
Right Lane: Chase Williams Runs 7.836/171.00/-0.474, Now #1 E/A Index: 8.31

Maris' car started toward the stripe at half track and he lifted.

Smiley hit the wheelie bars hard, backed off briefly.

Hall's Cavalier went toward the centerline, he lifted. Smiley's car drifted toward the wall, he also lifted.

Right Lane: Joey Tanksley Runs 8.677/157.06/-0.303, Now #4 E/SMA Index: 8.98

Yes, that's Joey Tanksley, in a Cobalt!
