NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fifth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Dave Hill Runs 5.905/241.15, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.695/245.99, Was #11
Right Lane: Jerry Powell Runs 5.587/251.25, Now #10; No Prior Run

6:15 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 48 percent, barometer 28.99 inches, adjusted altitude 3,001 feet, track temperature 102 degrees.

Powell did not make a run in the first round of qualifying. He comes off the line, goes right down the groove, and gets in the show in the tenth spot. Hill made a good run earlier today but slows a little on this pass and drops a spot as Powell goes around him in the order.

Left Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 5.496/255.87, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.628/253.33, Was #11
Right Lane: Dave Hirata Runs 5.610/246.48, Now #12; Best prior run: 16.603/73.38, Was #15

Hirata keeps the slicks stuck on this pass and moves up a few notches in the order. McPhillips improves and moves into the top half of the field.

Left Lane: Mike Comella Runs 5.376/261.57, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.564/255.05, Was #10
Right Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.440/244.16, Now #6; Best prior run: 14.550/52.52, Was #15

Stalba was on a good run but fell behind a little on the top end. Comella makes a clean run and moves all the way to the third spot.

Left Lane: Robin Samsel Runs 5.491/251.72, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.495/257.78, Was #9
Right Lane: Jared Dreher Runs 5.620/246.48, Now #14; Best prior run: 8.713/110.65, Was #15

Dreher had problems on his earlier pass but keeps the candles lit all the way through the run here and moves up a spot in the order. Samsel improves just a little but stays in the ninth spot.

Left Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 6.671/136.28, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.462/262.59, Was #7
Right Lane: John Finke Runs 5.445/258.07, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.511/259.76, Was #11

Thacker was on a decent pass but had problems near the end of the run and slowed. Finke made a decent pass and moved into the top half of the field.

Left Lane: Randy Meyer Runs 5.417/257.33, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.414/254.81, Was #5
Right Lane: Brandon Booher Runs 5.443/260.66, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.491/258.17, Was #9

A couple of decent runs here, both right down the groove. Booher moves up to the seventh spot, meyer stays in the fifth spot.

Left Lane: Dan Page Runs 5.486/261.72, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.374/263.36, Was #2
Right Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.350/261.12, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.300/258.52, Was #1

Reichert makes another good run to the top spot. This is Reichert's 30th number one qualifying spot, the most ever in this class. Page makes a decent pass and stays in the second spot.
