Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Final Session

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fifth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Roger Burgess Runs 9.449/111.63, Now #19; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 58 percent, barometer 28.98 inches, adjusted altitude 2,563 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.

Burgess shook hard right off the starting line and clicked it off.


Left Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 5.990/247.97, Now #10; Best prior run: 19.423/40.23, Was #23
Right Lane: Scott Ray No Time, Now #23; Best prior run: 13.890/55.96, Was #22

Coughlin launched hard and was straight down the groove to get in the show...Troy Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.009 sec., 330ft-2.684, 660ft-3.984/192.03 mph, 1,000ft-5.079. Ray used up an engine early in the run...this run won't count because of the oil down penalty.

Left Lane: Harold Martin Runs 7.959/126.55, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.363/142.10, Was #18
Right Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.988/241.93, Now #10; Best prior run: 11.533/70.68, Was #23

Martin spun the tires hard right off the starting line and clicked it off. Payne launched hard and was straight down the groove to get into the show. Jay Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.647, 660ft-3.947/190.83 mph, 1,000ft-5.055.

Left Lane: Chuck Cheeseman Runs 6.072/235.97, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.231/144.63, Was #18
Right Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 6.275/230.84, Now #16; Best prior run: 9.926/105.76, Was #23

Cheeseman was straight down the groove to get in the show. Chuck Cheeseman's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.657, 660ft-3.981/187.31 mph, 1,000ft-5.116. Matusek gets in the show for now on the bump. Steve Matusek's incremental times: 60ft-1.051 sec., 330ft-2.826, 660ft-4.182/186.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.316.

Left Lane: Pete Farber Runs 6.079/238.09, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.059/145.34, Was #18
Right Lane: Brad Personett Runs 11.171/102.69, Now #22; Best prior run: 9.063/116.26, Was #22

Personett was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle and smoked them to about 330 feet. Farber was straight down the groove to get in the show. Pete Farber's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.673, 660ft-4.004/187.96 mph, 1,000ft-5.133. That bumps out Matusek and puts Mike Knowles on the bump with a 6.201.

Left Lane: Ike Maier No Time, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.956/182.35, Was #18
Right Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 6.419/230.61, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.176/226.54, Was #19

Maier left before the tree was activated and will not get in the show. Troxel got out of the groove and close to the centerline before she clicked it off...

Left Lane: Mike Janis Runs 6.225/223.14, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.130/238.93, Was #15
Right Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 5.953/240.81, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.201/236.01, Was #16

Janis slows form his earlier time and is now on the bubble. Knowles launched hard and was straight down the groove to get in the show. Mike Knowles' incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.594, 660ft-3.900/189.66 mph, 1,000ft-5.015.

Left Lane: Chip King Runs 13.339/92.06, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.968/253.28, Was #10
Right Lane: Ed Hoover Runs 6.162/238.05, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.021/239.06, Was #13

King with problems early in the run and clicked it off...No help here for Hoover.

Left Lane: Raymond Commisso Runs 10.832/79.75, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.947/246.66, Was #8
Right Lane: Donald Martin Runs 8.138/111.64, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.938/245.00, Was #6



Left Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 5.937/245.14, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.942/246.26, Was #7
Right Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 5.868/241.93, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.880/241.93, Was #4

A pair of Summit cars and this is a great drag race...Jones goes to the number two spot...Rickie Jones' incremental times: 60ft-0.959 sec., 330ft-2.572, 660ft-3.849/194.30 mph, 1,000ft-4.941. Lang with his quickest pass to move up the ladder one spot. Kenny Lang's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.630, 660ft-3.922/192.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.019.

Left Lane: Dennis Radford Runs 5.980/238.13, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.913/238.93, Was #5
Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 10.790/79.70, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.871/241.93, Was #3

Castellana shook early and clicked it off. Radford with another good looking pass, but will not improve.

Left Lane: Khalid Balooshi Runs 11.218/76.23, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.879/241.97, Was #4
Right Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 5.919/245.32, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.863/246.93, Was #1

Balooshi spun hard right off the starting line and clicked it off. Rowe with another good looking pass and he holds on to the number one spot. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.619, 660ft-3.911/193.49 mph, 1,000ft-5.002.
