Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Session #1

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fifth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Dave Hill Runs 5.695/245.99, Now #1

9:56 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 64 percent, barometer 28.91 inches, adjusted altitude 2,392 feet, track temperature 76 degrees.



Left Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 14.550/52.52, Now #3
Right Lane: Mike Comella Runs 5.564/255.05, Now #1

Stalba rattles the tires hard off the line, gets about 60 feet out and goes up in smoke. Comella makes a clean pass to take the early pole.

Left Lane: Brandon Booher Runs 5.491/258.17, Now #1
Right Lane: Robin Samsel Runs 5.495/257.78, Now #2

Booher shook the tires a little off the line but drove through it and made a decent pass. Samsel was on a decent pass but looks like he lost a couple of cylinders just before the lights.

Left Lane: Jerry Powell No Time, Now #7
Right Lane: Mike Kosky Runs 5.406/236.55, Now #1

Powell did not make the call to the line. Kosky makes a nice pass to take the top spot for now.

Left Lane: Dave Hirata Runs 16.603/73.38, Now #8
Right Lane: Dan Page Runs 5.374/263.36, Now #1

Hirata goes up in smoke at the hit and has to give up on the run. Page goes right down the groove and takes over the top spot for now.

Left Lane: Jared Dreher Runs 8.713/110.65, Now #8
Right Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 5.462/262.59, Now #3

Thacker carried the front wheels about 200 feet out, set them down and went on through with a decent pass. Dreher had problems early and had to back off the throttle.

Left Lane: John Finke Runs 5.511/259.76, Now #6
Right Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 5.628/253.33, Now #8

McPhillips was on a decent pass but put out a couple of cylinders late in the run. Finke makes a trouble free run right down the groove.

Left Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.300/258.52, Now #1
Right Lane: Randy Meyer Runs 5.414/254.81, Now #4

Reichert was on a really good run but put out a cylinder or two on the left side about 1100 feet out. Meyer makes a decent pass and gets in the fourth spot to end this session.
