Top Alcohol Funny Car Round 1 Eliminations

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 42nd annual NHRA SuperNationals:

8:19 p.m. - Morris got off the starting line first and was ahead at 60 feet. Manzo got by him after that and took over the race for the win.

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 49 percent, barometer 29.93 inches, adjusted altitude 1,443 feet, track temperature 84 degrees.

Tigges won this race on a hole shot. He got out of the gate first and stayed out in front the entire way down the track.

Noakes was quicker out of the gate but from 60 feet on, it was Ferro all the way.

Roman was first off the starting line but Anderika got out in from at 330 feet. But then Anderika's car drifted out of the groove and that allowed Roman to retake the lead and pull away for the win.

   26 Melinda Green-King                      7 Todd Veney

Green-King led this race to 330 feet. After that, Veney passed her by and went on to take the win with his lowest ET of the weekend so far. Veney will have lane choice over Tigges in the next round.

Pomponio went red so De Joria got the win. She had her lowest ET of the weekend so far and will have lane choice over Ferro next time out.

Lourie did not answer the call, so Cox had a single. He launched and shook the tires, so he clicked it off. Cox will race Roman in round two and Roman will have lane choice.

Sgro won this one at the line. He and Simonton were only a thousandth of a second apart in elapsed time and had the same speed. Sgro gave up lane choice to Manzo in the next round.
