Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 42nd annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: DJ Cox Jr. Runs 5.603/256.94, Now #3; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Todd Veney Runs 5.609/256.55, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.860/151.07, Was #16

11:37 a.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 40 percent, barometer 30.03 inches, adjusted altitude 1,234 feet, track temperature 96 degrees.

Cox was not in the field and Veney was on the bump when this session began. Cox had his career best ET and speed to move into the number three spot for now. Veney moved up 10 spots with a nice trip down the quarter mile.


Left Lane: Cassie Simonton Runs 5.632/258.57, Now #9; Best prior run: 10.044/126.76, Was #18
Right Lane: John Headley Runs 6.067/217.77, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.809/152.68, Was #17

Simonton had a nice run that moved her up nine spots in the order. Headley made it into the field for now, with two drivers waiting for their last chance to push into the top 16. Dan Roman is on the bump spot at 6.159.

Left Lane: Dan Roman Runs 5.680/251.95, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.159/219.65, Was #16
Right Lane: Wayne Morris Runs 5.908/248.34, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.436/237.59, Was #18

Morris pushed his way into the field with a clean run down the groove. Roman moved up three spots in the order. Wayne Morris is on the bump spot at 5.908.

Left Lane: Frederick Tigges Runs 12.403/115.93, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.738/231.00, Was #15
Right Lane: Marie Ferriolo Runs 6.794/154.17, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.341/237.30, Was #18

Both drivers shook the rear tires when the launched. Tigges clicked it off, Ferriolo pedaled it a few times and popped the blower as she crossed the finish line.

Left Lane: Paul Noakes Runs 5.775/251.58, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.692/257.83, Was #14
Right Lane: Eric Lourie Runs 5.687/250.04, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.666/253.42, Was #12

Both drivers had clean runs but neither improved his place in the order.

Left Lane: Melinda Green-King Runs 5.738/249.90, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.636/254.76, Was #10
Right Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.637/256.11, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.663/244.92, Was #11

A pair of good runs that had now effect on the qualifying order.

Right Lane: Paul Gill Runs 5.507/261.78, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.631/231.87, Was #8

Gill had his best run of the weekend to move up six spots in the order.

Left Lane: Alexis De Joria Runs 5.716/263.00, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.605/262.44, Was #5
Right Lane: John Anderika Runs 5.586/249.35, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.608/254.52, Was #6

DeJoria had a little bit of tire spin coming off the starting line but she drove through it. Anderika moved up two spots with this run.

Left Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 5.530/259.61, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.556/261.27, Was #3
Right Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 5.476/264.60, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.490/264.34, Was #1

Manzo and Ferro both had their quickest runs of the weekend, but neither moved in the order. Top Alcohol Funny Car qualifying finished with Manzo in the number one spot.
