ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 42nd annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run: Right Lane: Ken Winward Runs 5.490/258.76, Now #9; No Prior Run 11:08 a.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 40 percent, barometer 30.03 inches, adjusted altitude 1,234 feet, track temperature 96 degrees. Winward had his career best ET and speed with his first qualifying
attempt of the event. That put him in the number nine spot for now. Dave DeAngelis is on the bump spot at 10.035. Left Lane: Mike Kosky Runs 5.316/263.98, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.854/109.40, Was #15 Right Lane: Monroe Guest Runs 5.352/272.34, Now #3; Best prior run: 11.270/94.95, Was #17 Guest was not in the field and needed to beat the 10.035 second bump time to make it into the field. Guest made it down the track for the first time this weekend to move into the number three spot for now. Kosky went from number 15 to two with a straight run down the groove. Left Lane: John Finke Runs 5.298/268.06, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.336/166.76, Was #16 Right Lane: Dave DeAngelis Runs 5.652/220.62, Now #16; Best prior run: 10.035/84.70, Was #17 Finke had trouble getting down the track yesterday, but today he took his dragster down the groove to take over the number two spot in the order. DeAngelis had his best run of the weekend to get back into the number 16 spot in the order. He is on the bump spot at 5.652. Left Lane: Tom Pickett Runs 5.562/253.90, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.534/257.73, Was #14 Right Lane: Jackie Fricke No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.728/190.67, Was #17 Fricke needed to go quicker than 5.652 seconds. Right after she launched, the car slowed and the chutes came out at 330 feet. Pickett had a clean run that did not improve his spot in the qualifying order. Left Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 5.448/245.14, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.424/252.05, Was #8 Right Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.394/255.19, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.515/242.41, Was #13 Reichert had a clean looking run that moved him up five spots in the running order. That pushed McPhillips down one spot as he had a good run that was not as quick he was yesterday. Left Lane: Mike Comella Runs 5.931/172.63, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.381/259.16, Was #7 Right Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.401/260.81, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.453/263.10, Was #12 Stalba had her career best ET with a clean run down the track. She moved up three spots in the order. Comella's run looked okay but was not as quick as yesterday. Left Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 5.404/258.67, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.360/269.03, Was #6 Right Lane: Richard Bourke Runs 5.467/230.45, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.427/259.86, Was #11 Both drivers made runs that looked okay, but neither was quicker than yesterday. Left Lane: Daniel Page Runs 10.565/88.78, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.298/269.29, Was #1 Right Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.342/271.52, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.355/272.67, Was #5 Page smoked the tires coming off the starting line and clicked it off. Shields had his best run of the weekend so far to move into the fourth spot in the order. Page finished qualifying in the number one spot for the first time in his career.
