Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 42nd annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Luigi Novelli Runs 7.862/80.78, Now #15; Best prior run: 8.145/79.19, Was #15
Right Lane: Fred Farndon No Time, Now #17; No Prior Run

Farndon got shut off after the burnout. Novelli was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 8.855/92.11, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.220/87.15, Was #14
Right Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 8.285/72.19, Now #16; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 29.95 inches, adjusted altitude 1,397 feet, track temperature 89 degrees.

Vandergriff is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Dakin is up in smoke by 100 feet.


Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.859/310.48, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.630/99.66, Was #13
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 4.786/150.68, Now #11; Best prior run: 8.637/62.59, Was #17

Grubnic is out of power by 660 feet and coast on through the 1000 feet. Langdon with a great looking pass to go to the number two spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.166, 660ft-3.084/274.94 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Foley Runs 3.889/310.55, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.151/98.56, Was #14
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.962/301.60, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.162/218.55, Was #10

Foley with a great pass straight down the groove...Doug Foley's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.177, 660ft-3.107/270.86 mph. McMillen with real good pass, but stays in the number 10 spot. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.193, 660ft-3.157/261.98 mph.

Left Lane: Del Worsham Runs 3.785/322.34, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.639/116.65, Was #14
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.863/314.24, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.940/307.86, Was #9

This was a great side-by-side drag race...Millican with his quickest pass of the season. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.175, 660ft-3.091/275.00 mph. Worsham with header flames shooting way over the rear wing all the way down the track. worsham goes to the number one spot. Del Worsham's incremental times: 60ft-0.830 sec., 330ft-2.133, 660ft-3.034/281.13 mph.

Left Lane: Dom Lagana Runs 3.920/309.27, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.455/129.39, Was #14
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.880/315.86, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.913/314.17, Was #10

Another good drag race...Lagana with his quickest pass of the season. Dom Lagana's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.179, 660ft-3.133/266.64 mph. Lucas with another good pass to move up the ladder a couple spots. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.192, 660ft-3.112/274.72 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.831/318.77, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.005/299.26, Was #13
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 5.884/114.34, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.904/314.09, Was #10

Kalitta is up in smoke around 330 feet. Bernstein with a picture perfect pass to go to the number two spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.162, 660ft-3.071/278.58 mph.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.810/319.60, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.869/314.46, Was #7
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.803/324.51, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.876/317.94, Was #8

This was a great side-by-side drag race...Schumacher goes the number two spot and big top end speed again. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.153, 660ft-3.052/280.89 mph. dixon was right there with him to go to the number three spot. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.833 sec., 330ft-2.141, 660ft-3.051/279.38 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 5.171/137.36, Now #8; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.795/323.81, Now #2; No Prior Run

Brown is up in smoke early and clicks it off. Massey with another great pass, straight down the groove. Massey goes to the number two spot...Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.140, 660ft-3.045/280.37 mph.
