Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Session #2

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 42nd annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Monroe Guest Runs 7.923/135.22, Now #13; Best prior run: 11.270/94.95, Was #15
Right Lane: Tom Pickett Runs 5.534/257.73, Now #9; No Prior Run

2:32 p.m. - Guest smoked the tires coming out of the gate and pedaled halfway down the track. Pickett did not get a time in the forst session because he never staged his car. This time, he went down the groove to make it into the field.

Left Lane: Dave DeAngelis Runs 12.300/43.82, Now #16; Best prior run: 10.035/84.70, Was #16
Right Lane: John Finke Runs 7.336/166.76, Now #13; Best prior run: 9.258/99.33, Was #15

Finke launched and smoked the tires right away. DeAngelis got out about 200 feet when the blower on his car popped and the chutes came out. He's on the bump spot right now with an ET of 10.035.

Left Lane: Jackie Fricke No Time, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.728/190.67, Was #12
Right Lane: Mike Kosky Runs 7.854/109.40, Now #14; Best prior run: 9.202/88.47, Was #15

Fricke could not get her car started. Kosky launched, got to about 330 feet and shut down.

Left Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.355/272.67, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.588/232.63, Was #11
Right Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 22.836/28.97, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.424/252.05, Was #4

McPhillips spun the tires when he launched. Shields went down the groove to move into the number two spot for now.

Left Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.561/248.07, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.515/242.41, Was #9
Right Lane: Mike Comella Runs 5.475/265.43, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.381/259.16, Was #4

Reichert drove through some tire shake and was unable to move up in the order. Comella was slower than he was in the first session.

Left Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.541/252.95, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.453/263.10, Was #8
Right Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 5.405/269.89, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.360/269.03, Was #3

Neither drive was as quick as they were in the first session.

Left Lane: Richard Bourke Runs 10.375/93.42, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.427/259.86, Was #6
Right Lane: Daniel Page Runs 5.404/259.21, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.298/269.29, Was #1

Bourke smoked the tires at 100 feet and clicked it off. Page was not as quick as the first session but stays in the number one spot in the order.
