ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 42nd annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run: Left Lane: Dan Roman Runs 6.942/146.51, Now #2 Right Lane: Marie Ferriolo Runs 6.341/237.30, Now #1 11:42 a.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 36 percent, barometer 30.01 inches, adjusted altitude 1,154 feet, track temperature 109 degrees. This is Ferriolo's second race is a Top Alcohol Funny Car. Her first race was the
division race at Maple Grove last weekend. Both drivers had some tire shake coming off the starting
line. Left Lane: Frederick Tigges Runs 5.998/250.00, Now #1 Right Lane: John Headley Runs 6.809/152.68, Now #3 Headley had some tire shake and a slow start coming off the starting line. He got a couple hundred feet out and got out of the groove. Tigges drove through some tire shake. Left Lane: Lou Sgro Runs 8.170/220.22, Now #6 Right Lane: Eric Lourie Runs 5.666/253.42, Now #1 Sgro smoked the tires off the starting line and the car started to go sideways at 200 feet. He backed off the throttle to get the car straightened out. Lourie had his lowest ET of the season and career best speed to move into the top spot for now. Left Lane: DJ Cox Jr. No Time, Now #8 Right Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.732/253.37, Now #2 Cox Jr. shook and got out of the groove, he got over by the wall and crossed the outer boundry, so his run will be DQ'ed. Pomponio had a clean run to move into the number two spot in the order for now. Left Lane: Paul Noakes Runs 5.692/257.83, Now #2 Noakes had the quickest run in the left lane so far and took over the number two pot in the order for now. Left Lane: Cassie Simonton Runs 5.664/244.78, Now #1 Right Lane: Paul Gill Runs 5.858/218.97, Now #5 Simonton's car got a little loose at 330 feet but she got the car straightened out to take over the top spot in the order for now. Gill took his car down the groove to put himself into the field. Left Lane: Melinda Green-King Runs 5.636/254.76, Now #1 Right Lane: Wayne Morris Runs 6.436/237.59, Now #9 Green-King had her career best ET to move into the number one spot. Morris had to do some pedaling to make it down the track. Left Lane: Alexis De Joria Runs 5.753/262.44, Now #6 Right Lane: Todd Veney Runs 6.860/151.07, Now #12 De Joria shook the tires at about 200 feet but drove through it. Veney's car trailed smoke down the second half of the race track. Left Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 5.563/260.16, Now #2 Right Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 5.491/264.91, Now #1 Manzo took over the number one spot in the qualifying order with a nice run straight down the groove. Ferro also took his car down the middle of his lane to move into the second spot in the order.
