LAS VEGAS -- Special awards from the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals.

K&N Filters Horsepower Challenge award ($3,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock) - Allen Johnson, Greeneville, Tenn., Team Mopar/J&J Racing Dodge Avenger, 6.646 seconds, 207.75 mph.

Best Engineered Vehicle - Kevin Kleineweber, Super Gas, Phoenix, Ariz.

NHRA Best Appearing Car - John Larsen 1969 Camaro, Super Gas entry, South Jordan, Utah

NHRA Best Appearing Crew - Katie Sullivan crew, Pro Stock Motorcycle, Corning, Calif.

Perfectly Strange Awards:
Super Stock: Eddia Leabo, Alta Loma, Calif.
Stock Eliminator: Earl Snow Sr., Saint George, Utah
Super Gas: Linzi Theobald, Saint George, Utah

Full Throttle Hard-Working Crew Award ($3,000 each to Top Fuel and Funny Car, $1,500 to Pro Stock and $750 to Pro Stock Motorcycle for the crews that are recognized as the hardest working of the event):
Top Fuel: Dominick Lagana beats Top Fuel points leader Larry Dixon on his way to his first career final round appearance.
Funny Car: Matt Hagan's team who struggled in qualifying then came back in the first round to run a 4.071-second run.
Pro Stock: Team Summit Racing for getting both cars in the final at team owner Ken Black's first race back after health issues.
Pro Stock Motorcycle: Matt Smith for coming back after putting his Buell in the sand during qualifying and coming back to make it to his third final round appearance of the season.
