Whiteley and Austin have each won 1 time against the other in prior events.
Austin gets a good light but not as good as Whiteley. They are even at the sixty foot mark, then Austin starts to pull away. He hangs on to the lead to the 1000 foot mark, then Whiteley drives around and takes the win.

Jim Whiteley's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(0.002), 330 ft(-0.029), 660ft(-0.018), 1,000ft(-0.005). MOV: 0.0057 seconds (approximately 2 feet).

This is the first time Taliaferro and Guest have faced each other in eliminations.
Taliaferro leaves before the tree is activated and gives the win to Guest.

Whiteley will have lane choice over Guest in the final round.
