LAS VEGAS - Results of round 2 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals:

Capps is 10 - 4 against Tasca III in prior events.
Capps had a nasty explosion in the first round and had to really thrash to get the car ready for this race. The team had to replace the body and the engine and got help from the Matco Tools team.
They left the line together then Capps started to pull away. He extended his lead past the 330 foot mark, then struck the tires. Tasca's car was struggling at the hit but he stayed on the throttle and drove around the struggling car of Capps' and pulled away for the win.

Bob Tasca III's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.060), 330 ft(-0.120), 660ft(0.075). MOV: 0.4573 seconds (more than 100 feet).

Force Hood is 5 - 4 against Beckman in prior events.

Beckman gets out of the gate first but looks like he has a cylinder out. Force Hood started gaining ground on him quickly, then drove around him before they reached the 660 foot mark and pulled away for the win.

Hagan is 2 - 1 against Head in prior events.
Head hits the throttle, starts moving to the left and gets out of the groove. He starts heading for the wall and finally backs off the throttle about 600 feet out. Hagan has an almost flawless pass and pulls away for the win.

Hagan will have lane choice over Force Hood in round three.

Force is 2 - 0 against Troxel in prior events.
Force was 57 points behind Hagan starting the race today. Hagan just won round two so Force really needs this one to keep pace.
Force gets a great start and starts pulling away. He gets about 400 feet out and loses traction. troxel has problems of her own, going up in smoke about 300 feet out. They both pedal, gain traction and go on through the lights.

Tasca will have lane choice over Force in round three.
