LAS VEGAS - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals:

9:38 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 63 degrees, relative humidity 38 percent, barometer 28.02 inches, adjusted altitude 2,873 feet, track temperature 71 degrees.
Rizzoli gets out of the gate first but Pierce runs him down quickly. Pierce goes by before they reach the sixty foot mark and extends his lead all the way through the run.

Brandon Pierce's incremental margins: 60ft(0.052), 330 ft(0.071), 660ft(0.074), 1,000ft(0.090). MOV: 0.1180 seconds (approximately 44 feet).

Six out of the top ten points earners are in this field. Cowie is #3 right now and needs to win two races to win the championship. he has won the last two national events at this track.

Cowie issn't going to win this one. He comes off the line, makes a move to the right and takes out the 330 foot timing block. He goes into the right lane, steers it back across the centerline and takes out a couple of timing blocks at half-track. Ahten avoided Cowie and drove by him at half-track to take the win.

Guest is currently fifth in the points chase and has three wins this season.
This was a good drag race. Guest leaves first and starts to pull away. Manners begins to make up ground at the sixty foot mark, then starts to fall behind again at half-track. Guest extends his lead and pulls away for the win.

Monroe Guest's incremental margins: 60ft(0.057), 330 ft(0.044), 660ft(0.049), 1,000ft(0.051). MOV: 0.0467 seconds (approximately 18 feet).

Severance has won at this track once, the spring race in 2007. He gets out of the gate first and starts to pull away. St. Arnaud made a move at half-track and started to make up ground. he continued to gain ground on Severance but ran out of room.

Joey Severance's incremental margins: 60ft(0.085), 330 ft(0.140), 660ft(0.110), 1,000ft(0.070). MOV: 0.0508 seconds (approximately 20 feet).

Nicholson spun the tires a little of the line and made a move to the left. He corrects, starts drifting right and gets close to the centerline at the end of the track. Perkins went right down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend to take the win.

Austin rattles the tires off the line and starts to drift to the right. he steers the car back to the groove and never backs off the throttle.

Shields has 15 national event wins but has never won at this track.
Taliaferro gets off the line first and stays in front for the first hundred feet or so. Shields drives around him, starts to pull away as Taliaferro starts moving around. Taliaferro starts to pick back up, then goes back around Shields and pulls away for the win.

Mark Taliaferro's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(0.027), 330 ft(-0.034), 660ft(-0.034), 1,000ft(0.019). MOV: 0.0863 seconds (approximately 31 feet).

Whiteley has been the class of the field this weekend and claimed his fifth top qualifying spot of his career. He gets out first, stars to pull away and makes the quickest pass of the weekend to take the win. Mc Kernan makes a good run, her quickest ever, but fell behind all the way through the run.
