Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #2

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Pat Musi Runs 6.103/233.28, Now #11; Best prior run: 10.416/84.52, Was #17
Right Lane: Billy Harper Runs 9.875/89.56, Now #18; Best prior run: 11.119/77.12, Was #20

6:21 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 27.84 inches, adjusted altitude 3,840 feet, track temperature 82 degrees.

Harper has problems late in the run and clicks it off. Musi makes a clean pass and gets in the show.

Left Lane: Rick Stivers Runs 6.015/238.93, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.853/231.99, Was #16
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 6.310/229.04, Now #15; Best prior run: 10.971/78.73, Was #20

Stivers goes right down the groove and moves into the top half of the field for now. King makes a clean pass and gets in the show.

Left Lane: Randy Walker Runs 6.287/223.43, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.334/222.44, Was #16
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 6.041/234.21, Now #10; Best prior run: 10.583/82.71, Was #20

Left Lane: Ed Hoover Runs 10.243/81.52, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.058/234.21, Was #12
Right Lane: Mike Janis No Time, Now #19; Best prior run: 8.136/107.16, Was #19

Janis gets out of the groove early, pedals, then crosses the centerline and takes out a timing block. Janis had problems around half track and backed off the throttle.

Left Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 6.013/237.21, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.051/239.06, Was #11
Right Lane: Derrick Townes No Time, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.443/230.96, Was #18

Townes drifted to the left all the way through the run and took out the last timing block. Lang made an impressive and moved up to the seventh spot.

Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 6.073/235.72, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.040/237.38, Was #10
Right Lane: Joe Baker Runs 6.113/233.16, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.158/232.11, Was #15

Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 6.009/238.93, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.026/238.30, Was #9
Right Lane: Dennis Radford Runs 6.065/231.12, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.138/229.16, Was #15

Payne moved around early in the run but got it under control and made the quickest pass of the session so far. Radford makes his quickest pass so far and moves up a couple of notches.

Left Lane: Raymond Commisso Runs 6.007/240.77, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.987/242.41, Was #5
Right Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 13.235/83.63, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.001/242.19, Was #6

Rowe loses traction at the hit and backs off the throttle. Commisso makes an impressive run, the quickest pass of the round so far.

Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 11.641/73.05, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.984/242.06, Was #4
Right Lane: Brad Personett Runs 8.982/111.77, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.945/241.37, Was #2

0-for-2, both have traction problems and abort the runs.

Left Lane: Roger Burgess Runs 6.106/240.77, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.984/242.89, Was #3
Right Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 5.971/244.52, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.925/243.94, Was #1

Troxel makes another impressive run, the only one in the "5's" this round. Burgess makes a decent pass but slows from is earlier attempt.
