Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #2

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.068/187.42, Now #9; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.113/184.22, Now #11; Best prior run: 15.016/49.64, Was #23

3:47 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 26 percent, barometer 27.86 inches, adjusted altitude 4,007 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.
Gann wasn't able to make a pass in the first round. Smith had early problems and clicked it off in the first round

No problems for either rider here, both right down the groove and into the field for now.

Left Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.262/183.82, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.357/182.67, Was #22
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 12.045/66.23, Now #24; Best prior run: 8.057/120.25, Was #24

Berry has problems early in the run and clicks it off. Camarena improves but not enough.

Left Lane: Rhett Lougheed Runs 7.278/177.84, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.300/180.28, Was #21
Right Lane: Dawn Matthews-Baugues Runs 7.868/167.01, Now #23; Best prior run: 8.033/145.66, Was #23

Left Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 7.257/178.14, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.281/182.38, Was #21
Right Lane: Chris MacLaurin Runs 7.226/183.47, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.303/178.28, Was #22

Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.258/171.90, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.273/185.51, Was #21
Right Lane: James Surber Runs 7.196/184.57, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.266/185.36, Was #20

Both improve but neither can get in the top twelve.

Left Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.188/183.82, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.137/186.59, Was #13
Right Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 7.125/186.67, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.217/160.79, Was #17

Tonglet makes a big improvement and gets in the field for now. Guidera slows from his earlier attempt.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.069/186.33, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.034/189.36, Was #7
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.251/189.02, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.157/188.60, Was #16

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.106/184.83, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.030/190.92, Was #6
Right Lane: David Hope Runs 8.431/107.93, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.139/186.10, Was #15

Hines makes the quickest pass of the round so far but doesn't improve. Whitaker improves but stays in tenth.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 7.019/189.28, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.963/194.13, Was #2
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 7.076/184.60, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.034/186.48, Was #8

Krawiec makes a good run for the conditions but doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.013/186.59, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.929/192.30, Was #1
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.001/190.46, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.014/188.81, Was #4

Stoffer makes the quickest pass of the session to end the round but doesn't improve.
