Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Session #1

MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 26th annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Ken Winward Runs 5.982/192.74, Now #1

Winward got out of the groove on the top end clicked it off early.

Left Lane: Bruce Horner Runs 5.633/245.45, Now #2
Right Lane: Richard Bourke Runs 5.419/256.21, Now #1

Bourke with his quickest pass of the season to go to the number one spot...Richard Bourke's incremental times: 60ft-0.914 sec., 330ft-2.416, 660ft-3.579/215.41 mph, 1,000ft-4.562. Horner goes to the number two spot. Bruce Horner's incremental times: 60ft-0.934 sec., 330ft-2.443, 660ft-3.662/201.49 mph, 1,000ft-4.724.

Left Lane: Dave DeAngelis Runs 5.670/248.93, Now #4
Right Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.524/251.39, Now #2

Stalba with a real nice pass to go to the number two spot...Karen Stalba's incremental times: 60ft-0.953 sec., 330ft-2.490, 660ft-3.657/213.98 mph, 1,000ft-4.649. DeAngelis with a good pass to go to the number four spot. Dave DeAngelis' incremental times: 60ft-1.022 sec., 330ft-2.553, 660ft-3.763/205.98 mph, 1,000ft-4.791.

Left Lane: Brandon Greco Runs 5.462/260.71, Now #2
Right Lane: Tom Pickett No Time, Now #7

Greco with his quickest pass of the season to go to the number two spot...Brandon Greco's incremental times: 60ft-0.947 sec., 330ft-2.425, 660ft-3.596/210.41 mph, 1,000ft-4.603. Pickett got real loose on the top end and the engine let go with quick flash of fire, and then he collected the finish line cones.

Left Lane: Darvin Martinets Runs 5.509/258.76, Now #4
Right Lane: Arthur Gallant Runs 5.400/269.56, Now #1

Gallant with a great pass, straight down the groove to the number one spot. Arthur Gallant's incremental times: 60ft-0.964 sec., 330ft-2.469, 660ft-3.610/220.26 mph, 1,000ft-4.572. Gallant with his quickest and fastest pass of the season.

Left Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 9.689/82.22, Now #10
Right Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 5.517/256.36, Now #5

Mercier shook and shut off...McPhillips with a good pass to get into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Brandon Booher Runs 5.504/258.96, Now #5
Right Lane: Mike Kosky Runs 5.319/266.32, Now #1

Booher with a nice pass to get in the top half of the show. Brandon Booher's incremental times: 60ft-0.493 sec., 330ft-2.435, 660ft-3.620/207.82 mph, 1,000ft-4.637. Kosky launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Mike Kosky's incremental times: 60ft-0.930 sec., 330ft-2.360, 660ft-3.495/217.32 mph, 1,000ft-4.478.

Left Lane: Ken Perry Runs 5.425/255.29, Now #4
Right Lane: John Finke Runs 5.448/259.11, Now #5

This was a great side-by-side drag race to go to the number four and five spots...Ken Perry's incremental times: 60ft-0.914 sec., 330ft-2.404, 660ft-3.568/213.10 mph, 1,000ft-4.566.
John Finke's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.489, 660ft-3.634/219.79 mph, 1,000ft-4.602.

Left Lane: Mike Austin Runs 5.326/267.80, Now #2
Right Lane: Darren Nicholson Runs 5.363/260.61, Now #3

Austin with a great pass to go to the number two spot. Mike Austin's incremental times: 60ft-0.918 sec., 330ft-2.361, 660ft-3.505/215.37 mph, 1,000ft-4.489. Nicholson was right there with him and he goes to the number three spot. Darren Nicholson's incremental times: 60ft-0.912 sec., 330ft-2.344, 660ft-3.501/213.03 mph, 1,000ft-4.503.

Left Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 5.392/239.36, Now #4
Right Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.403/267.59, Now #6

A couple more good looking passes and they both go into the top half of the show. Marty Thacker's incremental times: 60ft-0.914 sec., 330ft-2.372, 660ft-3.520/214.14 mph, 1,000ft-4.509.
Duane Shields' incremental times: 60ft-0.935 sec., 330ft-2.452, 660ft-3.603/218.12 mph, 1,000ft-4.571.

Left Lane: Monroe Guest Runs 5.223/268.01, Now #1
Right Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.315/264.55, Now #2

This was a great drag race to wrap up round one of qualifying as these two go to the top of the list...Reichert with a great pass to go to the number two spot. Bill Reichert's incremental times: 60ft-0.927 sec., 330ft-2.389, 660ft-3.511/222.22 mph, 1,000ft-4.475. Guest with a season best pass to go to the number one spot...Monroe Guest's incremental times: 60ft-0.923 sec., 330ft-2.365, 660ft-3.462/225.41 mph, 1,000ft-4.397.
