Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #1

MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 26th annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.082/301.67, Now #1
Right Lane: Fred Farndon Runs 4.198/274.72, Now #2

Millican making his first race of the year...he is dropping cylinders early, but stays with it...Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.920 sec., 330ft-2.323, 660ft-3.284/263.46 mph. Farndon makes a career best pass here. Fred Farndon's incremental times: 60ft-0.963 sec., 330ft-2.364, 660ft-3.348/255.48 mph.

Left Lane: Dom Lagana Runs 3.929/305.77, Now #1
Right Lane: Tim Cullinan Runs 4.431/211.39, Now #4

Lagana with career best E.T. and speed with a great looking pass...Dom Lagana's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.185, 660ft-3.137/267.69 mph. Cullinan drove trough a lot of tire shake before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Luigi Novelli Runs 7.397/91.88, Now #5
Right Lane: Doug Foley Runs 8.064/75.87, Now #6

Foley with severe tire shake as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off. Novelli with a lot of tire shake and he clicks it off early.

Left Lane: Scott Palmer No Time, Now #8
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.909/310.84, Now #1

Vandergriff with a real nice pass, straight down the groove. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.202, 660ft-3.129/272.56 mph. Palmer got real loose on the top end and the big rear slick tapped the wall right before the finish line.

Left Lane: Pat Dakin No Time, Now #10
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.931/303.16, Now #3

Dakin with problems and shuts off before he makes the burnout. McMillen with a good clean pass to start the weekend. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.181, 660ft-3.133/265.59 mph.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 5.310/118.97, Now #7
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 7.802/78.03, Now #9

Lucas was up in smoke right off the starting line. Grubnic started to lose traction around 300 feet and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.922/306.53, Now #2
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.920/147.94, Now #8

Brown started to haze the tires around half track and clicked it off. Torrence with a great looking pass, straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.189, 660ft-3.131/267.59 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 4.793/143.95, Now #9
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.885/316.38, Now #1

Langdon starts to haze the tires around 400 feet and clicks it off. Kalitta launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.860 sec., 330ft-2.191, 660ft-3.116/273.61 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 7.020/87.93, Now #13
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.852/318.24, Now #1

Bernstein is up in smoke right off the starting line and clicks it off. Schumacher with a great pass as he goes to the top of the list and sets the track speed record. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.179, 660ft-3.092/278.92 mph.

Left Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 3.832/316.01, Now #1
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.854/317.05, Now #3

McClenathan with a great pass as he goes straight to the number one spot. Cory McClenathan's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.154, 660ft-3.070/278.17 mph. Dixon with a real nice pass to open the weekend as he goes to the number three spot. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.167, 660ft-3.088/275.79 mph.
