KENT, Wash. - Results of round 3 eliminations in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 23rd annual NHRA Northwest Nationals:

Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 62 percent, barometer 29.62 inches, adjusted altitude 2,154 feet, track temperature 104 degrees.

Cowie with the starting line advantage and the lead until around 1000 feet when the car started mixing up cylinders. Niver was able to drive around him on the top end and take the win. Then when Niver popped the chutes they blossomed and then came off the car. He was trying to slow the car down and then the car goes into the sand trap. He went through the sand trap and into the net, it appeared the net folded the front end of the car up. The word from the top end is they have Niver out of the car and are transporting him to a local hospital.

Demke just took the green light and shut off and was pushed back. The NHRA has declared him the winner of the event because Niver will not be able to return for the final round.
