KENT, Wash. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 23rd annual NHRA Northwest Nationals:

Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 70 percent, barometer 29.65 inches, adjusted altitude 1,696 feet, track temperature 87 degrees.

Torrence and Lucas have each won 2 times against the other in prior events. This was a great drag race to start the day. Lucas with a slight starting line advantage and never trailed to take the win by 0.0172 seconds (approximately 8 feet). Lucas with his quickest pass of the weekend, also Torrence with his quickest pass of the weekend in a losing effort.

That will give him lane choice over Lucas in the next round.
