KENT, Wash. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 23rd annual NHRA Northwest Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 5.457/256.80, Now #7; Best prior run: 10.602/75.10, Was #11

4:25 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 91 degrees, relative humidity 35 percent, barometer 29.60 inches, adjusted altitude 3,086 feet, track temperature 131 degrees.

No bump spot. Trautman, Miersch, and Edwards will not run this session.

Force was supposed to face Rizzoli in this session. She runs a lot better on this pass and moves into the top half of the field in the #7 position. Nice pass!

Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.925 sec., 330ft-2.441, 660ft-3.602/214.45 mph, 1,000ft-4.594.

Right Lane: Courtney Force Runs 5.469/260.46, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.446/260.71, Was #6

They run side by side from start to finish with close times all the way down,

Force gets a big lead off the line, but can't match her prior times. She will stay #6.

Austin gets it all down to the ground on his pass and moves up a spot to #8.

This would have been a good race on Sunday.

Mike Austin's incremental times: 60ft-0.941 sec., 330ft-2.417, 660ft-3.594/209.59 mph, 1,000ft-4.602.
Courtney Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.947 sec., 330ft-2.468, 660ft-3.627/215.82 mph, 1,000ft-4.613.

Left Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.334/267.37, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.423/227.96, Was #5
Right Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.382/264.29, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.415/263.15, Was #3

Two good lights, two good passes and a terrific side by side qualifying pass for both cars.

Severance gets off the line first by just 0.006 and improves his incrementals all the way down the track, but doesn't improve his qualifying position.

Cowie picks up almost a dime and three spots on the ladder to move up to #2 and push Severance down to #5.

Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.918 sec., 330ft-2.362, 660ft-3.510/215.17 mph, 1,000ft-4.495.
Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.911 sec., 330ft-2.380, 660ft-3.538/213.60 mph, 1,000ft-4.534.

Left Lane: Dale Carlson Runs 9.415/80.53, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.422/262.49, Was #5
Right Lane: Chris Demke Runs 10.014/98.00, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.328/269.89, Was #1

A ton of shake for Demke and he has to lift.

It sounded like Carlson had drive line problems, as the engine zings up to high C right off the line.

Neither car improves.
