Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Final Session

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Junior Pippin Runs 7.065/191.16, Now #14; No Prior Run

3:47 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 54 percent, barometer 28.90 inches, adjusted altitude 3,782 feet, track temperature 125 degrees.

Last chance to qualify and Pippin is still not in the show. Mike Berry is on the bump spot at 7.248 and there are only seventeen bikes here this weekend.

Pippin gets his stuff together and makes a clean pass to the new #14 spot.

Junior Pippin's incremental times: 60ft-1.097 sec., 330ft-2.965, 660ft-4.530/156.73 mph, 1,000ft-5.895.


Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.181/186.10, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.204/184.98, Was #16
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.217/185.77, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.248/179.14, Was #17

Joe DeSantis is on the bump spot at 7.204 and moves up a spot with a better ET and MPH.

No joy for Berry, as he doesn't make the field.

Joe DeSantis' incremental times: 60ft-1.139 sec., 330ft-3.010, 660ft-4.587/154.69 mph, 1,000ft-5.980.
Mike Berry's incremental times: 60ft-1.136 sec., 330ft-3.015, 660ft-4.610/152.66 mph, 1,000ft-6.013.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.055/189.98, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.036/188.60, Was #12
Right Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.330/186.18, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.189/185.00, Was #16

Both bikes slow, Wells more than Gann, but stays in the field on the bump spot. He'll get to race on Sunday.

Shawn Gann's incremental times: 60ft-1.074 sec., 330ft-2.935, 660ft-4.504/155.90 mph, 1,000ft-5.878.
Wesley Wells' incremental times: 60ft-1.114 sec., 330ft-3.044, 660ft-4.701/149.41 mph, 1,000ft-6.123.

Left Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.188/188.94, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.993/190.32, Was #9
Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.318/190.75, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.052/192.91, Was #13

The heat and track temperatures aren't being nice to a lot of the bikes.

They both slow.

Jim Underdahl's incremental times: 60ft-1.149 sec., 330ft-3.045, 660ft-4.623/155.36 mph, 1,000ft-6.003.
Craig Treble's incremental times: 60ft-1.206 sec., 330ft-3.168, 660ft-4.763/154.63 mph, 1,000ft-6.142.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.974/193.38, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.982/192.71, Was #8
Right Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 7.013/190.11, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.028/189.28, Was #11

Well, what bad for some is good for others.

Two nice clean passes and both bikes improve. Krawiec move up one to #7 and Tonglet stays #11.

Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.084 sec., 330ft-2.922, 660ft-4.467/158.20 mph, 1,000ft-5.817.
LE Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.065 sec., 330ft-2.902, 660ft-4.466/156.39 mph, 1,000ft-5.837.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.974/193.74, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.973/192.82, Was #5
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 6.971/194.41, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.999/191.92, Was #10

Stoffer runs within 0.001 of her best time and Phillips' card the second best speed of the weekend to move five spots up the ladder into the top half of the field.

Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.094 sec., 330ft-2.920, 660ft-4.464/158.45 mph, 1,000ft-5.816.
Michael Phillips' incremental times: 60ft-1.096 sec., 330ft-2.925, 660ft-4.471/158.54 mph, 1,000ft-5.818.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.044/191.40, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.957/189.68, Was #4
Right Lane: David Hope Runs 6.996/189.92, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.978/188.75, Was #9

No joy for either rider.

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.119 sec., 330ft-2.961, 660ft-4.515/157.50 mph, 1,000ft-5.875.
David Hope's incremental times: 60ft-1.071 sec., 330ft-2.899, 660ft-4.454/157.25 mph, 1,000ft-5.819.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.931/193.29, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.951/188.52, Was #3
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 7.784/120.89, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.973/190.19, Was #7

Arana has a clean and straight pass to the finish line and moves up to the #2 spot. Smith has a good one going and then sits up on the top end.

Hector Arana's incremental times: 60ft-1.070 sec., 330ft-2.888, 660ft-4.426/158.84 mph, 1,000ft-5.774.
Angie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.087 sec., 330ft-2.926, 660ft-4.488/154.51 mph, 1,000ft-6.085.

Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.963/192.99, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.934/192.11, Was #3

Hines takes a single, as Johnson will pass on this round too.

It's a good strong pass, but no improvement. He'lll stay #3.

Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.087 sec., 330ft-2.914, 660ft-4.457/158.93 mph, 1,000ft-5.804.

3:59 p.m. Steve Johnson remains #1 at 6.929 and Wesley Wells is on the bump spot at 7.189.
