Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jason McKnight Runs 5.730/248.07, Now #8; Best prior run: 8.707/94.31, Was #17
Right Lane: Cassie Simonton Runs 5.846/252.10, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.673/118.50, Was #14

Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 59 percent, barometer 29.01 inches, adjusted altitude 3,087 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

McKnight goes from outside the show into the top half of the show. Jason McKnight's incremental times: 60ft-0.965 sec., 330ft-2.528, 660ft-3.763/199.88 mph, 1,000ft-4.826. Simonton with her career best pass to get in the show. Cassie Simonton's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.616, 660ft-3.890/197.74 mph, 1,000ft-4.953.


Left Lane: Paul Gill Runs 5.732/248.71, Now #9; Best prior run: 8.397/74.54, Was #17
Right Lane: John Hart Runs 6.096/214.69, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.939/244.65, Was #15

Gill with a good looking pass her to get in the show and that bumped out Bohl and put Hart on the bubble. Paul Gill's incremental times: 60ft-0.964 sec., 330ft-2.538, 660ft-3.773/199.88 mph, 1,000ft-4.831. No help here for Hart, so he will have to just wait and hope it is good enough to stay in the show.

Left Lane: Wayne Butler Runs 8.080/110.57, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.933/238.09, Was #15
Right Lane: Clint Thompson Runs 5.698/255.19, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.816/247.70, Was #13

Butler shook and shut off. Thompson with a great looking pass to get into the top half of the show. Clint Thompson's incremental times: 60ft-0.957 sec., 330ft-2.542, 660ft-3.776/202.30 mph, 1,000ft-4.818.

Left Lane: Brent Henry Runs 5.740/249.58, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.762/238.55, Was #11
Right Lane: Lance Van Hauen Runs 8.565/155.72, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.810/243.24, Was #13

News from the staging area is that Bohl had forgotten to fuel up, so his crew ran back to the pits and grabbed a jug of fuel, but you are only allowed to add a quart of fuel once you are in the lanes, so he won't be allowed to run. And he won't qualify...

Van Hauen shook, pedaled and he will not improve. Henry with a good looking pass, his best of the weekend, but will stay in the number 11 spot.

Left Lane: John Anderika Runs 5.659/250.64, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.707/251.16, Was #8
Right Lane: Larry Dobbs Runs 15.397/21.70, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.771/252.80, Was #12

Dobbs shakes and shuts off...Anderika with a great pass and he moves up to the number four spot. John Anderika's incremental times: 60ft-0.958 sec., 330ft-2.496, 660ft-3.715/202.82 mph, 1,000ft-4.766.

Left Lane: Todd Veney Runs 5.703/252.00, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.679/254.47, Was #5
Right Lane: John Bojec Runs 5.725/253.52, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.689/256.84, Was #7

A couple good passes here, but neither one improves. Todd Veney's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.543, 660ft-3.766/202.27 mph, 1,000ft-4.813.
John Bojec's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.549, 660ft-3.783/201.55 mph, 1,000ft-4.837.

Left Lane: Alexis De Joria Runs 5.950/243.28, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.649/258.02, Was #3
Right Lane: Steve Harker Runs 7.869/107.40, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.687/254.09, Was #6

Harker shakes and clicks it off... No help here for De Joria.

Left Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 5.539/259.96, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.545/260.66, Was #1
Right Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 5.612/254.90, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.593/256.06, Was #2

Manzo with the quickest pass of the weekend to improve on his number one qualifying g spot. Frank Manzo's incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.464, 660ft-3.655/208.55 mph, 1,000ft-4.675. Ferro with another good pass, but will not improve. Mickey Ferro's incremental times: 60ft-0.944 sec., 330ft-2.483, 660ft-3.693/204.01 mph, 1,000ft-4.730.
