Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 4.923/144.35, Now #14; No Prior Run

Palmer launched hard and then around 300 feet it started to lift the front end and he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 7.524/88.16, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Luigi Novelli Runs 4.073/282.54, Now #12; No Prior Run

Dakin lost traction right off the starting line and clicked it off. Novelli started mixing up cylinders and then the engine let go with a huge fireball.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.872/308.50, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.644/113.02, Was #16
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 6.102/106.32, Now #17; No Prior Run

Haddock started to lose traction early and clicked it off. Vandergriff with a real nice pass until right in the lights when there was a lot of engine smoke. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.090/273.11 mph.

Left Lane: Tim Cullinan Runs 3.988/278.75, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.342/245.05, Was #15
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 6.271/97.13, Now #18; No Prior Run

Buff started to lose traction early and clicked it off. Cullinan with his career best pass here to get in the show. Tim Cullinan's incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.224, 660ft-3.171/266.90 mph.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.904/305.70, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.998/290.38, Was #12
Right Lane: Doug Foley Runs 3.896/314.24, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.075/301.47, Was #15

Lucas with nice clean pass to get into the top half of the show. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.183, 660ft-3.114/270.27 mph. Foley with a great looking pass and a big top end speed, a career best speed mark. Doug Foley's incremental times: 60ft-0.866 sec., 330ft-2.201, 660ft-3.123/274.05 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence No Time, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.950/305.49, Was #12
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 5.396/126.02, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.031/291.63, Was #14

Torrence with problems on the burnout and can't get it into reverse, so he drives off the top end. McMillen started to lose traction early and clicked it off..

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.795/318.99, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.946/307.02, Was #11
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 6.625/101.66, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.940/313.00, Was #10

Kalitta is up in smoke by 300 feet and clicks it off. Brown launched hard and keep the Goodyears stuck to go to the number one spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.832 sec., 330ft-2.135, 660ft-3.034/279.79 mph.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.780/320.43, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.917/300.26, Was #8
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 6.910/74.57, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.931/305.91, Was #10

Langdon was up in smoke early and then banged the blower and the chutes automatically deployed. Dixon with a great pass with the header flames shooting high over the rear wing. He goes to the number one spot with both ends of the track record. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.137, 660ft-3.029/283.49 mph.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.898/305.01, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.911/309.42, Was #8
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 6.907/84.01, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.920/308.92, Was #9

Schumacher started to lose traction early and he clicked it off. Grubnic makes a move in the right direction...David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.178, 660ft-3.107/270.16 mph.

Left Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 5.952/105.16, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.889/308.57, Was #5
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.778/153.39, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.848/312.42, Was #3

McClenathan starts to lose traction and pedals it and is back up in smoke before he clicks it off. Bernstein is up in smoke early and clicks it off.
