Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #2

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.140/186.28, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.381/185.03, Was #16

Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 47 percent, barometer 29.06 inches, adjusted altitude 2,679 feet, track temperature 96 degrees.

Junior Pippin is on the bump spot at 7.141.

DeSantis just bumps into the field for now by 0.001. Nice clean pass.

Joe DeSantis' incremental times: 60ft-1.117 sec., 330ft-2.974, 660ft-4.550/154.67 mph, 1,000ft-5.941.


Left Lane: Junior Pippin Runs 10.619/76.52, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.141/189.36, Was #13
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.432/181.30, Now #17; Best prior run: 20.648/33.68, Was #17

Pippin has the better numbers off the line and then slows before mid-track.

Berry gets to the finish line under power this time, but it's not good enough to bump in.

Left Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 6.993/190.32, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.097/191.08, Was #11
Right Lane: Wesley Wells No Time, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.236/185.46, Was #16

Two good looking passes and they both take advantage of the cooler conditions, but Wells drifts into the centerline in the lights and the pass is DQ'ed.

Underdahl makes a big nine position up the ladder to the new #5 spot.

Jim Underdahl's incremental times: 60ft-1.092 sec., 330ft-2.907, 660ft-4.456/157.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.819.
Wesley Wells' incremental times: 60ft-1.103 sec., 330ft-2.953, 660ft-4.530/154.99 mph, 1,000ft-5.911.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.953/191.38, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.090/189.44, Was #11
Right Lane: David Hope Runs 7.068/189.82, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.204/191.32, Was #15

Arana gets it all together this time and moves from near the bump up to the top of the field on a strong pass.

Hope bumps in for now with a big ET improvement.

David Hope's incremental times: 60ft-1.080 sec., 330ft-2.934, 660ft-4.514/155.67 mph, 1,000ft-5.889.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.036/188.60, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.056/187.60, Was #10
Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.052/192.91, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.174/191.08, Was #15

Two more clean passes and two more moves up the ladder.

Shawn Gann's incremental times: 60ft-1.066 sec., 330ft-2.906, 660ft-4.476/155.42 mph, 1,000ft-5.852.
Craig Treble's incremental times: 60ft-1.124 sec., 330ft-2.979, 660ft-4.535/157.47 mph, 1,000ft-5.891.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.973/192.82, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.053/190.11, Was #11
Right Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 7.028/189.28, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.074/188.86, Was #13

David Hope is on the bump spot at 7.068.

Both bikes join the crowd moving up the ladder and Stoffer is it the top half of the field for now.

Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.084 sec., 330ft-2.905, 660ft-4.456/157.83 mph, 1,000ft-5.812.
LE Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.074 sec., 330ft-2.905, 660ft-4.472/155.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.847.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec No Time, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.982/192.71, Was #6
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.973/190.19, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.048/187.29, Was #11

Krawiec's V-Rod gets very unhappy at the green and bucks and snorts to a stop on the track.

Smith moves into the new #5 position with a strong 1.058 sixty foot time.

Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.565 sec., 330ft-8.477, 660ft-99.999/000.00 mph, 1,000ft-99.999.
Angie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.058 sec., 330ft-2.868, 660ft-4.426/156.37 mph, 1,000ft-5.796.

Left Lane: Matt Smith No Time, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.974/191.24, Was #6
Right Lane: Michael Phillips No Time, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.047/191.46, Was #11

Phillips gets out in front and runs a good six second pass, but drifts into the ET reflector at the 1320 to DQ both runs.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.929/193.60, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.968/193.54, Was #5
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.959/194.49, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.966/193.52, Was #4

Johnson show big time power on a beautiful looking pass and resets the track ET record. That ensures the new #1 spot and pushes an improving Hines back into the #5 position. He steals away the track MPH record.

Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.073 sec., 330ft-2.888, 660ft-4.429/158.84 mph, 1,000ft-5.775.
Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.113 sec., 330ft-2.934, 660ft-4.469/159.91 mph, 1,000ft-5.809.

9:14 p.m. Craig Treble is on the bump spot at 7.052.
